I will agree that PS3 is more "Future Proof" than Xbox 360 or Wii.

@Dno: Umm... Your point? Yes, PS2 will have close to ten years life. PS3 will be very close to six.

@aavidbacon: PS3 will be discontinued before hitting the 99 price.
People start buing PS3 for 100 as opposed to 90 Wii, just like they started to buy GC:s and Xbox:s the moment they reached price, that was less than 10 above PS2.
Could you explain me, why would people pick PS3 for 100, when you can have standalone BD players for 50?

 1.) Customers decide the lifetime of consoles, not hardware capabilities.

2.) The PS3 is probably the one console that's the least focused on gaming.  Blu-Ray and Internet browsing..

3.) As said, the 360 isn't cashing in as you said yet it continues to have hardware and games made for it.  Sounds like your cash in for the short term statement isn't a viable rational.

4.) I doubt the PS3 will ever produce graphics on par with PC, I guess PC is going beyond the limits.

5.) Despite the 360 seeming to primarly entertain the "needs" of the "shooter fanbase", it probably has the most well-rounded library of all 3 consoles.  JRPG's, Platformers, Racing, Sports, WRPG's for example are all available so to say that would be like saying "Pie is primarily for the apple fanbase."

Dude, you make it seem like since the PS3 has a 10-year life span. It's going to be future proof. It's not...get that through your thick head of yours!

By the time that 6th year hits. Microsoft will probably be releasing something more powerful than that motherboard that's in the PS3 right now and so will Nintendo.

So stop making threads saying PS3 is powerful. Because that's what the heck your doing...

10 year life span wont be decided by Sony PR and their fanboys, Sony must arleady be working on PS4, and the Developers with new microsoft console around 2011 will want to publish multiplat titles, and we know how hard is to port from 360 to PS3. If suddenly PS3 was to repeat PS2 success (whih wont happen believe me) then maybe yeah. A the moment the only console in this generation that has potential to last longer is wii, why? because many Wii owners (so called casuals) will be happy playing games as they are at the moment, because they look good enough to enjoy.
And with wii dominating this generation , Ninty will support it longer.

Sony needs to pick up in numbers big time, if they think about that 10 year plan, and trust me 5 year, 10 year plans wont work it has been proved, Communism was an epic fail
