 It was Sony that gave Nintendo the 'kiddy' label when the Playstation came out.  Thanks to the great dispute with third-parties, most of them moved to the Playstation, including most of the ones who would make a balls-out shooter or other type of 'hardcore' game.  And since Nintendo happened not to specialize in this area, Sony took the opportunity to spin it and make themselves the 'cool' console for teenagers and adults.

 

OT: Yeah, I think this game looks great--throwing people into specially-placed walls of spikes FTW!

Thank god, honestly I thought Nintendo was going to give in to all the pressure people were giving them and would drop the title.

Errr, Nintendo got the kiddy label in the war against Sega. Nintendo censored Mortal Kombat, so that it had no blood, but Sega didn't. That was a big thing. Nintendo has always been about family, and Sega came in and tried to be the cool kid. And it worked, especially in Europe. Noone seen the Sega does what Nintendon't commercials? There is no doubt they already had the kiddy image. Sony just took over Segas role(only acting much less retarded).

It will get released and noone will give two shit about the violence. Newspapers talk out of their ass, almost as much as censorship lobbyists.

Yup. Sega and the Mortal Kombat fiasco burned that image of Nintendo into the mind's of gamers a long time ago and Nintendo will never be able to shake it with anything less than an entire launch lineup of MadWorld-type games.

I'm glad to see Nintendo sticking their neck out ever so slightly for MadWorld. I do agree with trestres that it would have been nice of them to feature it quickly during that third party montage during the e3 conference.
