From what I have seen I so far it looks like all three will buils a console for the next round.

MS finally made money and seems to have learned much from their first two outings.  PS3 is finally getting its legs and will probably beat MS in the long run.  I think they learned a lot this console release arrogance and price point being the main 2.  WII is dominating so Nintendo is for sure back again.

For a fourth company entering I think its a long shot they would need DEEP POCKETS cause as MS learns it takes a while to build up the fan base and get things right

I made a thread like this a while back, alot of people said IF a new company comes into the gaming industries it'd more then likely be Apple

I guess that is not a bad guess but I would bet against them, they have the money but they like to control every aspect of the process they get in to, they wouldnt have the control they want in gaming. DO you think a big gaming company like EA or activision Blizzard would ever try?

To the firtst part I'm not even going to answer since it's so obvious.

To the second part, IF it happens, it'll either be Apple or EA. If it were Apple, I'd say they would be the only one with a chance at competing for Nintendo's market.

All three are already R&D-ing their next consoles.

I doubt anyone new will join. Apple is trying with their iPhone, but no consoles.

I think MS will, but this will have to be the make or break console. The division is still in the red, and PS3 is outselling it on a constant basis with all of Sony's blunders.

With the next round of systems, Sony should have wised up, and should easily blow MS out of the water again. Maybe then they'll get the clue.

I thought MS was finally in the black for the console?  I do agree this one will have to sell for them.  Talk about the red Sony is HUGELY in the red with the PS3. 

I like having sony and MS in it keeps them both in check and the prices dropping

on topic - yes, the three of them will make new consoles, and I think all will have wii-like qualities to try and appease the non core gamers.

Apple finnaly has enuf 3rd party devs (from the iphone) that they could enter the console buisness. They tried before with teh apple pippin but they only devd it, it was sold by Bandai which is why it failed.
