According to sinobi(the guy that has access to the first day numbers and preorder info), it sounds like he thinks the 360 was and still is supply constrained.

Microsoft is being pretty fucking dumb. They have these great JRPGs back to back to back and they don't have enough units to sell? 24k on Tales week was enough? 30k this week? C'mon MS.

Is it MS that isnt shipping enough or retailers not ordering enough? People dont seem to get discouraged when there is a supply shortage. It creates more of a buzz especially at these prices..

There was a rumor that MS was shipping about 90,000 to 120,000 consoles, but it might be that they don't intend to ship it at once. If I were MS, I wouldn't have expected the 30,000 consoles I shipped to Japan to sell out in a few days.

i think MS just give Japan max 20K-30K per week, so it will be supply constrained, and remember the demand is also on other region too.

To be fair, some of this may be on the retailers end. The X360 has sold very poorly up until late June, when it started trending upwards from the normally bad numbers. Retailers aren't going to magically buy 100,000 consoles when that may entail months of product, when it could be better invested in other products (like the Wii).

Because of that, distribution networks, and retailer attitude to the X360 may not have been enough to say "hey Microsoft! We need 50,000 Xbox 360's in Japan this week!" - That would of entained more units sold than any other MONTH the X360 has had outside of holidays and launch - a tough pill for business people to swallow.

I am sure that Microsoft has been, and is working out, ways to ensure the X360 gets properly stocked in Japan. I would think that the X360 has a chance to sell 10,000-20,000 units/wk for some time IF the demand was there to sustain such sales (and time will tell if that ends up being the case).

At any rate, the sell-out status seems to not be hurting the X360: Who would of thought that the X360 would have 2 weeks where it sells more than 20,000 units within a short timespan of eachother?

Oh and finally: This is GREAT news for ToV fans. It's continuing to crawl upwards, and if the demand is there, it could hit 200,000 by the time everything is said and done. Blue Dragon may be in danger!

Hello, sorry I hadn't been out to any stores lately which is why I didn't update this.

Anyway, I checked out the two largest stores in my city again earlier today. At the one below(the biggest store) all three models were SOLD OUT. The Red sticker above the big arrow pointing down is the sold out sign. The arrow pointing down means the price went down of course.

I didn't take a pic at the other store, but they only had the 60gb 360 in stock. The Elite had a sold out sign and strangely there was no sign at all for the Arcade. I don't know why though, since there was one there the last time I went. Strange.

Relative hardware sales in Japan so far this month:

X360 = PS3+PS2
Wii = X360+PS3+PS2
