I think Starcraft nailed it on the nail

What E3 conference crashed Neogaf and Vgchartz??

It wasn't Nintendo's or Sony's... Its a clear sign that MS's conference knocked the world upside down.

If your not a hardcore gamer chances are you won't even know what E3 is .

Fair enough Million, but as for the casuals and non-gamers they wouldn't care for anything besides the Wii anyway so that point is moot.

Yeah... on that standard the Wii when every E3 for just being the Wii.

I mean... MAG isn't exactly what i'd call brimming with casual appeal either.

I mean FF's sales reaching into 10 million once or twice shows it can have some big casual appeal.

If it's about actual sales... that goofy Wii sports 2 will likely outsell either MAG or FF13.

Boost? You mean sales-wise? Then this is most likely the wrong section and you're probably trying to get 'yes' votes from Microsoft supporters.

Anyway, I don't think so. E3 isn't known by larger masses and apart from FFXIII, MS's conference was kinda boring. Besides, FFXIII is still to be released on PS3 as well. I wouldn't necessarily call it a 'victory'; it's rather a huge shock.

thats so true, if you would have asked me in 2006 what e3 was i would have been confused.

if you would have asked me this time last year what e3 was i'd be able to tell you it had something to do with games because of looking at utube videos but would never have been able to tell you where or when it was or if it is streamed live on the net.

this year i new eveything there is to know about e3, but thats only because of you nice people

The main reason Sony may have gotten a boost last year was because they didn't just announce a single game going multiplatform. They showcased a series of promising looking exclusive titles. (Which clearly caught the eyes of thousands of gamers of different tastes). The following Price cuts/different models of course helped.

Here though, you're speculating that the JRPG crowd (who already don't own one of the two HD consoles, and are then going to choose a 360 over a PS3) are going to be enough to 'boost' hardware sales?

Very, very unlikely in my opinion.

If the 360 get's a boost, it will be because of a price cut. Not because some Microsoft fans online are screaming from the top of their towers that they "won" E3.

Sony has won e3, so no MS won't get a boost. They will get a boost from the short price drop they are offering. And stop saying MS won e3. There are plenty of links that prove otherwise from REAL reviewers:

http://www.edge-online.com/features/we-review-e3-big-three?page=0%2C2

or

http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/e3-2008/e3-2008-blogs/1227326

to name a few. Sony also focused on Exclusives, MS didn't. So it is possible Sony will get the boost. And to quote from the 1st link: "Either way, this year's E3, so far, belongs to Sony -- and if you're still on the fence about which new system you're going to spring for, your decision just got a whole lot tougher."

There will most likely be about a month's worth of boosted sales, leading heavy in the first week of the 20GB SKU inventory sale/clearing and tapering off until stock at $299 is depleted.

Does this have anything to do with a multi-platform game that will not be shipping before 2010? Try to use common sense rather than brand fan logic.

About the only people who will be making their decision to buy a current gen console on the basis of the FFXIII mult-platform announcement are the very same demographic of consumers who buy consoles years in advance for as of yet unreleased titles. It's a very small percentage of the overall console market.

Nothing announced during the MS conference will have a protracted effect on 360 sales comparable to the PS3 40GB SKU and it's new entry price point.

Now if MS had dropped the bombshell of price reductions across their entire product line ($229 Arcade, $299 60GB, $399 120GB) that would very likely result in a permanent increase in sales although the 360 price drops throughout Europe suggest otherwise. This is taking into account that the US is the strongest market for the Xbox brand.
