I knew the 60 was coming when I first heard of the price drop, and no mention of the Arcade/Elite.

I should be a psychic.

What's going on with Sony and MS? I still can't tell how many PS3 and 360 versions are available out there.
I think they're trapped in their own mistakes.

Official Pricing on the 60gb model:

TEL AVIV (MarketWatch) -- Microsoft Corp., the Redmond, Wash., software on Sunday unveiled a version of its Xbox 360 games-and-entertainment console with triple the storage space of the original machine at the same estimated retail price, $349. The new 60-gigabyte Xbox 360 will be available at retail early in August, Microsoft said. The company also cut the price of its 20GB Xbox 360 console in the U.S. and Canada to US$299 from US$349.

We laughed at Sony then because they were full of shit. They denied that the price drop was a clearance sale (MS admits it upfront). They denied that they were doing horribly (and they were). They denied that the initial models and price points were a mistake (and they were).

Can people not see the difference between publicly phasing out a nearly 3 year old model for something more up to date, as opposed to scrapping two consoles less than a year after launch, all the while denying that there was anything wrong?
