Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Miyamoto: "Ninten-does what Sega don't!"

Who else but people at VGC to take it seriously. I mean it's obviously a play on that old Sega Genesis advertisement as one person pointed out.

I mean although I disagree that being a head figure of a corporation should be making such comments, he's only human. He can make Halo, ratchet and Clank is nonexistent, and Twisted Metal is a stupid idea. Great what does it matter you anyways.

If anything it'll only get him in trouble. But really with these comments I only see it as a play on the old Genesis advertisment, which I would bet Sega finds hilarious. No sarcasm.

miyamot is a pretty cool guy

eh kills aliens and doesn't afraid of anything

ROFFLE!

BURN THEM ALL Miyamoto!

What really baffles me is that all the people crying at the top of their lungs are Sony fanboys but this is a comment about Sega. I don't see the correlation. I guess it's just another hissy fit to try and launch an attack against him, just like the morons that got angry at him because he didn't like the drug aspect in Haze, just like the morons that got angry at him because he though guns on cars were stupid, and just like the morons that got angry at him because he didn't know what Racthet & Clank was.

Miyamoto can't really help it that, unlike David Jaffe, people actually like him and thus root for him every once or twice a year he says something EPIC.

Hey, Montana or another mod, can you lock this thread plz? When I posted this, I thought it would be taken as a light-hearted joke, but it's somehow being seen as an attack on Sony, who aren't even mentioned.

For god's sake, he didn't even DISS Sega! Sonic and Mario, while both are platformers, have very different feels. SEGA's games are more fast-paced and 'cool', Nintendos are more deliberate and 'fun'.

End of story.

@Leo-j: Shigeru Miyamoto is the most humble man you could ever ask for. He INVENTED video games as we know them today, he's the general manager of Nintendo, and yet he REFUSES to take a higher salary than any of his coworkers. Cocky, indeed.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I often wonder what VGChartz would have been like if it had been around back in the SNES vs. Genesis days.. still you have to give credit to Sega for that catchline, we remember it after all these years.

 Like yourself?

Which sounds worse too you.

This "Oh, this looks like a Sega game. We need to make it look more like Mario." , or this " Wii owners will upgrade to a 360" or this " Dualshock is last gen"? In the first one you see somebody joking , in the second one he is most likely serious and believe the 360 is so much of a better console than the wii that it is an upgrad, and in the third one he is having arrogance that he could inconviiencence sony fans because he know it will sell anyway just because the ps2 and ps1 sold. Do you really think sega cares that miyamoto said this. They like me probably know that it is a joke. And for the ratchet case, how do you expect somebody in japan to know alot about a western franchise? Even if they are miyamoto I'm pretty sure he doesn't have his life consumed by video games, like me and many others in this forum , and know every single video game on the market. Everybody is arrogant at some point in their life, and even if this wasn't a joke I wouldn't take it as a big deal compared to other examples of arrogance.

Or the infamous "5 million people would buy our console at launch, even if we didn't have any games out, because they LOVE Playstation!"

1. This is not a dig against Sega. He's simply stating that Nintendo games have a particular style or aesthetic while Sega games have another (which, shockingly enough, has been true for decades).

2. The comment about R&C was also *not* a slight: you do realize that Miyamoto is, in all likelihood, incredibly busy and, outside of Nintendo games, probably doesn't have time to play many for fun since he has hobbies and a life *outside* of gaming--something some of you need to look into instead of desperately trying to be offended by random quotes from game designers you don't like.

3. Even his supposed Twisted Metal slam wasn't a slam against the game--it was a slam against the *idea* of cars racing around with weapons on them, something he might find abhorrent or insipid (a lot like many of you think party games are abhorrent or insipid even though you probably don't play them and are only vaguely aware that "Carnival Games sucks" despite having never played it).

Wow could you get any more pretentious?

He said its like a Sega game vs a Nintendo game. Where in that does he say that its bad? Its all the gamers who know for a fact that Sega game quality have gone down the crapper who are putting words in his mouth.

So why the heck was he un-permabanned?  I'm already getting a bit tired of comments like these popping up everywhere again.
