Prediction: PS3 to outsell 360 every month from now in USA.

Before I get to see any data from the MGS4/ bundle launch I will predict this:

 The PS3 will outsell Xbox 360 each and every month in USA from now, until (probably) the 360 gets a price cut and/or (maybe) until Gears of War 2 debuts. The return of the best-selling 80GB SKU combined in the incredible-value bundle, plus MGS4 sales push (for whatever is worth) will shift the PS3 to 3rd gear in USA and will carry the momentum to late fall and the holiday season when PS3 will get a little extra push (for whatever is worth, too) from other expected AAA titles (both first and third party). The growing HD adoption by fall will definitely help it even more and I seriously doubt Microsoft has anything to counter that -except- for a price cut. Gears of War 2 should be able to help the 360 break the streak, but I still have my doubts that title alone would be enough to do it (sans price cut) since it'll be facing fierce competetion next X-mas holiday season in the states.  If the PS3 is outsold for one single month without any of the above two conditions being met in USA, then my prediction will have failed. Notice I'm not saying or predicting PS3 will beat 360 sales every week. No. I'm talking monthly sales in USA.

 Agree, disagree? There's nothing to agree or disagree upon here, it's just a prediction. Comments are welcome of course, you may "think" differently and I respect that. Just don't think any explanation you have is more logical or reasonable, 'cause in the end all is speculation. So, I did this for the fun of it, don't take it too seriously and let's see what happens. This is how I see it, I already gave my reasons and I won't even defend my statement. It just is. I only ask not to turn this into a shitstorm, lol.

Prediction:

I have my doubts about this one. PS3 hardware will get a sizable boost from MGS4 to help it easily claim the month of June, but software releases generally do not caused sustained legs in the hardware department (Halo 3). Usually only price cuts do that, and I don't foresee any, PS3 or 360, until at least the holidays.

It is of course possible that PS3 could pull it off, I just don't believe it's a foregone conclusion. Once the holidays hit I think the edge goes to the 360 because its releases are more diverse and I think Gears 2 is generally more highly anticipated than Resistance 2. We've certainly seen more about it recently.

Agree.  It's been looking like that for a while now, but I don't think the 360 will top PS3 very much again, if ever.  A couple months, maybe, just based on the flow of releases.

The PS3 and 360 have traded blows in '08, with the PS3 outselling the 360 in America many times. They only have a 60k difference this year with each having sold about 1.5 million. Of course, the 360 could pull back ahead with a large new release or a price cut or something, but as it stands, the PS3 has a good chance of outselling it from now on. You could at least provide something better than a picture of a guy screaming, "Wrong!" 

as it stand now i agree....but there are way too many variables. Price cuts, bundles being the two biggies......as of now. yes. in 3 months. who knows.

1/ both are very very close since beginning of 08
2/ MGS4/80gb effect will not last for eternity
3/ MGS4/80gb effect

Well, especially for the NA market the 360 actually has a superior line-up this year. That, plus a cheaper price, and the whole 'play what your friends are playing' concept should keep it strong in the USA.

This prediction doesn't mean much though, as price cuts and massive games like Gears of War 2 are part of the usual console cycle, excluding events like that from your prediction doesn't exactly make it a bold one.
