Forums - Gaming Discussion - Namco Bandai: Eternal Sonata PS3 “Japan only”

This absolutely sucks. This is one of the only 360 games I want, and it is (well, was) one of my most anticipated releases this year. I really hope this guy ends up being wrong.

I'm not going to let this run over me or over any of us PS fans, so I'm going to write a message to Namco Bandai on behalf of us all PS fans. I'm fed up with their games.

Why didn't I see this crazy comment coming . Don't you see it "that's" the entire idea of Namco (incl. MS probably as well), to let you buy a 360? I refuse now even more to buy a 360 as my loyalty is strangely enough too big towards to Sony. I hear people saying elsewhere, Sony promises things and never makes them worth it, that's bull, this is totally outside of Sony's power.

Plus I refuse to pay over 400US for 3 or 4 games and being the victim of RRoD.

And if you're a serious Japanese RPG fan I don't even know why you're bothering with home consoles this generation. Portables are the only real option. The DS has several more of them than the PSP, but the PSP has some good ones as well (Jeanne D'Arc, Crisis Core).
The bolded is approximately 0% true when you acknowledge the existence of a little console called the Xbox 360.

So they are going to release it exclusively in the PS3's smallest market? Yeah, that's makes sense. I really hope that's just a tentative thing, that they will release it outside of Japan, they just don't have anything to say about it right now.

Hey, you never know, the 360 has Japanese exclusives, after all...

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

What kind of fuckers are they anyway?

Sorry for my response, but first they screw us PS3 owners with releasing Eternal Sonata on the 360 first then they announce the PS3 version from which we don't hear a word about it anymore for a year. Now we have to find out that they made us, in the West, all happy with a dead bird??? Not to imagine Ace Combat 6 releasing on the 360 and Tales of Vesperia, games which they've released for years on the PS consoles and now PS fans can screw it?! Well screw them!

Really, if Namco wishes to be such big buddies with MS, MS can have them!

I'm really "this" close to put "BOYCOTT NAMCO ON THE PS3" in the sig, but I have to remind myself that it might be just too stupid.
They are not "fuckers" at all.  Nor did they "screw" PS3 owners.  If people choose to buy a console before ensuring it will get the majority of titles from their preferred genre, they cannot reasonably fault a company for not falling into line with their unsubstantiated expectations.

Er... the Xbox 360 so far has only had mainstream JRPGS and Eternal Sonata.  A lot of JRPG fans aren't looking for the next Final Fantasy, because Final Fantasy has sucked for a while now, and Mistwalker's efforts on the 360 are distinct copies of FF games.

It's also missing what's arguably the single most hardcore RPG franchise: Dragon Quest, which prides itself on unforgiving difficulty.  The DS has quite a lot of this franchise (DQIV, DQV, DQVI, DQ:M, DQIX).  More importantly it's missing the diversity given out by RPGs that aren't trying to be mainstream (TWEWY, FFCC, Rune Factory), strategy RPGs (Jeanne D'Arc, FFT:A2, FFT:WotL, FFXII:RW), Nintendo's great RPGs (Fire Emblem, Mario & Luigi, Pokemon),  and extensive mainstream RPGs (KH:BBS, KH358/2, FFIII, FFIV, CC:FFVII).

The 360's JRPG library is miniscule and insigniffanct compared to the handheld JRPG library.   If you really like JRPGs, the 360 isn't even an option compared to the DS and PSP (Particularly the DS).

How many good JRPG's does the 360 have? 3? LO, ES, BD. ToV soon, IU looks mediocre. Compared to the DS and PSP thats pretty low.

edit: what Naz said

I won't even want this title by the time it hits the states.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I feel sorry for the PS3 owners that is waiting for such a game. Ps3 is the worst RPG console.
