Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Square has 'a lineup' of Xbox 360 titles in the works

That's good news.

It'l be interesting to see Square Enix rpg's up against Mistwalker.

Personally, I am looking more forward to this and Last Remnant then I am Final Fantasy XIII. I like new ideas in new IPs.

FF should have been retired permanently, after VII... FF is worse then Rocky and Friday the 13th sequels... Square is milking that cow to the max... And many of us are crazy enough to keep buying it.

well no doubt the 360 will get the bad square enix titles like that project slypheed(awful game), as for them getting final fantasy 13 not a chance i dont think sony will give up the exclusiveness of ff13 and ff veruses 13

Yea they are milking the franchise name, but it's not like each game is the same.  It really seems like people just come up with random reasons to hate on the Final Fantasy franchise.  Have any of the recent FF games played similarly to the other?  FF X had the sphere system, FF XII was like a single player MMO, FF XIII will probably have a different system.  FF 7 had materia, FF 8 had junctioning.  New ideas, new stories (with exception to FF X and FF X-2), just the same "franchise."  FF 9/12 were classic fantasy stories, FF7/8/10 were sort of futuristic.

I bet if those Final Fantasy games had different names, some of the Final Fantasy haters would be praising the games.

@Neo

You claim that SE are milking the FF cow to the extreme, well so are Nintendo with their games (to a much, much worse degree) but people still buy those games also...

As long as people keep buying them, they will be made! I personally loved FFVIII and X so would disagree that the series should have been stopped with the faaaar over-rated VII!

SE have been stating that they want a bigger US presence so making more games for the Xbox 360 makes sense. Furthermore, there is a market for RPGs on the 360, LO shows that gamers are prepared to buy JRPGs and SE higher profile would likely ensure they could gain good sales for their games on the console.

Debating with fanboys, its not
all that dissimilar to banging ones
head against a wall

like some of the guys said, you can interpret this however you want, 'fact' is, it just wouldn't make sense for Square Enix to release anything on the 360 that's exclusive..

what a nonsense.. what.. a... non.. sense.. FFXII was given very good scores by many acclaimed reviewers, and is considered by many, not me, but by many as very good... FFX is by the Famistu readers considered as the best FF ever even! I don't agree, but even if you don't agree like me, it still is almost impossible to say the game sucks.. also VIII, I didn't really like it much at first, later when I replayed it I like it much more, but it was still easily one of the best rpgs in those years, same is the case with IX, that was for me also dissapointing, but if I'm honest, it sure wasn't bad at all.. and then you have the great Crisis Core, and great remakes like the remake of FFIII, and IV and V and VI in the future will probably also be very nice remakes.... so it really is NONSENSE to say Square should have stopped after VII.. and I haven't said anything about XI yet or about Tactics that got released after VII too.. you must have some personal problem with the series.. cause even if you think some of the installments aren't great or genius, compared to the competition in all those years, they are undisputed some of the best rpgs of their times..

@Montana: I meant they'd announced more 360 games lately (and I said consoles), and I just thought that was interesting.

What have they announced lately? Did I miss something? Infinite Undiscovery is from 2006.

The last console game I can think of that they announced was Soul Eater and that was for the Wii. Before that it was FFCC...for Wiiware.

This announcement just sounds like they have more planned of what they've been giving the 360 - nothing exclusive. It's probably going to be like the Project Sylpheed deal, in which they step in as publisher for smaller Japanese developers making 360 games. So far they have made nothing inhouse exclusively or specifically for the 360. They were not even originally involved with Infinite Undiscovery...it's actually quite pompous of them to boast about they're upcoming "lineup" for the 360 when the game headlining it had been conceived and developed without them in the first place.

What can I say? They are sneaky devils and they know just what to say to get the more desperate fans of each platform right in the palm of their hands.

a good marketing campaign would also help
