Dude, hardcore games aren't going anywhere, the software sales indicate that.

The biggest and best third party titles are going to remain on  HD consoles.

Well, the lists only show million sellers. It's still odd though, that you aren't interested in at least a couple of these games. But consider that games don't have to sell that many copies to be considered successes on the DS and Wii.

For example, each of the two Castlevania games on the DS has sold about half a million, but that was enough for Konami to make a third game for the DS. No More Heroes on the Wii came nowhere close to selling a million, but the publisher of the game was still very satisfied with the sales of the game.

After taking a look at your games collection, the problem we have here is pretty obvious. The games you like simply haven't been made for the Wii yet. Nintendo doesn't make these types of games and 3rd parties didn't bother to make them as of now, at least not with serious efforts. But lately it looks like 3rd parties are starting to aim for M-rated games on the Wii with for example The Conduit and Mad World. They wouldn't make these games if they didn't believe that they can sell.

JRPGs are also underway, so we'll some results in the latter half of 2008.

I think he is talking about the list of 2008 ds games. If he doesn't seem interested in any of those games, then he has to try out new games. He just narrows himself to games that are "mature" and doesn't look pass that. I've seen a few rpgs in his collectin so the Dragon Quest Games Final Fantasy IV ASh Tales of Innocence, etc look like games he would like, but I guess not.

dont say that: my favourate psp game is Patapon, oh that game is a lot of fun. I have no problem with the DS, but i'm an adult and i prefer adult games.

Don't listen to just the obvious, Nintendo is exercising disruption, the idea is they don't want to get disrupted after the smoke clears, the best way to do this is to cover all their bases. Ignoring a multibillion dollar potential in the 'hardcore' crowd would be a dumb move on any companies part, just chill and enjoy your games, know they will keep coming as long as people can turn profits off them.

HD gaming is not what was in demand this year is all, maybe in a few years or 'next generation'.

But Nintendo isn't going to be the one spear heading HD, that's why we need the Sony's and the Microsofts to push technology on the market, otherwise technology wouldn't advance quite at the pace it does today.

Realisitcly for every 10 gamers that are 'casual' you have 2.3 I believe it was; that are avid gamers on the Wii userbase.

But yea it is odd though, 'hardcore' games are way more front loaded but they sell roughly equally to the 'casual' games.

LTD! Not including bundles ^.^, So I'd say theirs money to be made and someone will make it and know that for nintendo they intend to make it, it's really a matter of getting HD gamers and other 'hardcore' gamers to become interested in what the Wii can offer. But that would be monopoly and it's never good... So the other option is to get these 'casual' gamers to become avid gamers.

Dun dun the revalation XD or revolution. If nintendo had done this stuff back in the 80's life would of been so easy for gamers today, specially the ones under 18 living with their parents >.>

The Official Huge Monster Hunter Thread:

The Hunt Begins 4/20/2010 =D

http://malstrom.50webs.com/newworld2.htm

Now, in the New World, the gamer could hardly contain his amazement. Software began falling into two types: traditional games or ‘new’ market games. And these ‘new’ market games began appearing everywhere (along with Wii systems) from libraries to grocery stores. The future television remotes mimicked the Wii-remote and the Wii Channels section for channel selection. Girls played with the system as did mothers and grandmothers.

“Let us go into a Game Store!” I said and the two of us entered. It resembled a book store. Traditional gaming was the ‘fiction’ setting and the titles the hardcore loved could be found in what would be the sci-fi/fantasy section in a bookstore. But whatever one could imagine in a bookstore there was a video game equivalent including business games, cooking games, children’s games, biography games, and even technical games.

We left the Game Store and walked until we saw a televised wall (televisions were obsolete in this time. What were screens could now take up entire walls). A gray haired Reggie walked on the stage and said, “Twenty years ago, today, Wii changed the world. People didn’t think gaming could reach females or older audiences in a massive way, but it did. Just recently, we have expanded gaming to education where now schools use our game products regularly in their school plans. We created yet another market by making games for babies and small kids to help with their development. Some might say we should be satisfied by our success. But I say: we have only begun. While we have successfully competed and beaten all other known forms of entertainment including our competitors…” The crowd laughed as Reggie pointed to the date Microsoft left the gaming market and Sony’s small niche. “We are no longer satisfied with competing for the consumers’ entertainment time. They work most of the day. Just as we made inroads into education, we want to make inroads into the office. When the Wii launched, somehow, Wii Sports became a game people played at the office. We are set to make an entire new style of games that caters to the office. We want to expand to make games for the work environment!”

@OP HELL YES! You should read Malstrom's article often...

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

"Adult games". Ugh. You just lost my respect.

Games are about FUN, "activity engaged in for diversion or amusement". You're telling me all the games you like "just happen" to be adult? Or do you just define them after the fact? You should drop your God of War avatar, since gore, nudity, and gross historical innacuracy are not "adult", by most cultural standards. You should be playing Brain Training or others, that are actually selling to adults.

Or you can drop that bullshit line about "adult" games, pardon my language, and just a look at the DS and Wii as actual game machines, not a fake threat to gaming.

very mature there. Anyways, why do you guys care if i dont like these games, they not my types, and frankly i see tons of adults who buys and play wii and ds, but i dont critized them for doing so, it's there choice. But dont expect everyone to like them. If i wanted the type games  you speak of , i would go to the gym, i would read a book and more importantly i would cook real food.  I DONT NEED TO FAKE PLAY THEM. but i cant go out there and rob and shoot people, but i can in games.

Nobody said they wanted you to play those games. I said you should try out new games that don't fit in the "mature" description. Most of those DS games will be fun, but only 1 or 2 are "mature". There are tons of rpgs coming to the ds and you aren't interested in 1? I've seen you had FFX in your collection Final Fantasy IV is coming. To say you aren't interested in any of those games means you are very specific on what you like, and also will make it hard for you to find things you like on consoles with a variety of different games.

i am going to try these games but the previous poster attacted me and i didnt like that. I have nothing against these games, and they do look fun, but just like fps shooters dont interest some of you, i feel the same way about these games, nothing personal. And man, i got tons of respect for you.

You didn't really read my comment. I wasn't telling you to like them. I was telling you that the classification of your stated preference is false. The fact that you wrote "buys and play wii and ds" implies that you think that all DS and Wii games are not adult, or else you wouldn't have stated it in the manner you did.

That is why your "adult games" preference is bullshit. You're blanketing entire systems as not adult, instead of looking at game individually.

Then again, it strikes me as the mark of immature people to use such fallacious arguments*, and even twist the arguments used against them, as you just did, by pretending I was telling something I was not.

* Which means I do consider some of the talking heads on cable news very immature people.
