If you had actually read even a few minor paragraphs in, you would have noticed that all I was really arguing about in terms of the review was the difference between a 10 and a 9.9, and even people that love GTA IV have pointed out that there are plenty of reasons that can be cited to drop the score by .1

Another flaw in your argument is the idea that I'm complaining about the scores, when I really don't care about review scores as I consider them flawed at their fundamental level. Again, this is something you would have found out if you had read a few paragraphs in.

The one that claimed GTA4 was getting good reviews because it wasn't on a Nintendo platform. I thought the same thing honestly, but I should have known better thinking back over your post history.

To a certain extent I agree with the sentiment that the better reviews are CONNECTED to the fact that it's not a Nintendo game, but I don't feel it's directly CAUSED by that fact alone. Basically, my attempt here was to track down what the actual cause was for this phenomena, and this is what I came up with.

Actually, the theory I was originally starting out with when I started writing this was that game review communities were essentially lashing out at Nintendo for upsetting their well established standards of game review. However as I was writing, it occurred to me that review sites may actually be unable to adapt.

Of course it could also be a little of column A and a little of column B. Of course, I also recall galaxy or some other nintendo game getting huge reviews and the PS3 and 360 crowd were crying foul all over the place as well. This may just be a matter of waiting for those sites that are spending more time on the review or are just waiting to see how the field settles before setting out their own review, that may be lower score than the current flash flood of 10s.

I am quite curious to see what Yatzee while do with GTA IV though. Either its going to be right up his alley or he's going to tear it apart.

Well the troubles created by GTA shows how they are feeling somehow irritated by the success of the alternative games, is like the fear to vanish in a wave of casual games and mini-games, but this is a self-created trouble, the most hyped games are just sequels, is like the dry up of the original content and the suddenly vanish of the pseudo-hardcore players...

Probably the lack of good sales of the HD consoles vs the Wii is showing how small can be the pseudo-harcore market, and since the PS2 had most of the support, lots of fans thought that the PS2 was full of "hardcore gamers"...

 Horrible truth, the core and casual market are bigger than the hardcore...
