Well I only read the OP but no one claimed it was perfect they just said it was so great that the flaws could be over looked and it could be rated perfect.

The omly game I ever heard anyone claim perfect was OoT

"Back off, man. I'm a scientist."

Your theories are the worst kind of popular tripe, your methods are sloppy, and your conclusions are highly questionable! You are a poor scientist. Especially if you think the moon landing was faked.

God, I'm so tired of people always saying that the whole goal of gaming is "fun". Some of us don't game for "fun" get over it, geez, the close mindedness of gamers. Maybe back in the 80's and early 90's it was purely for fun, but don't be saying that anymore.

Um yeah, it pretty much is... Otherwise, give me another reason. Whatever way you try to cook up, it will probably have to do with fun.

Really, we read science books and watch documentaries for fun? Many, including me play games for educational purposes only -among others. Learning language, philosophy, cooking, etc. I find most gameplay in games a nuisance as I'm only looking for specific material I can build into my body of knowledge. As games become bigger budget and more mainstream expect more school lesson games (from language to biology, etc) games to do with sciences and philosophy, others to do with history or exercise and etc to stand side to side to the usual time waster "fun" games.

Is this a new trend? Nintendo fans bashing on other consoles and then telling everyone it's a joke when they get flamed?

A stupid question for everyone...

Can someone tell me the original and innovative elements in GTA4 - that bring "newness" to the genre, and gaming in general? Because we couldn't be possibly scoring a game as the "best ever", if it isn't completely innovative... could we?

I find the NaturalMotion stuff interesting, but its not something that actually affects the gameplay...?

Online modes?

New game elements?

Or is its innovation simple to be the "best VR game ever"?

...

Because Galaxy (for instance) had heaps of "real" innovation (IMO anyway), yet it still got marked down for not being "fresh enough". I'd hate to think that pretty graphics take precedence over innovation for scoring...

Honestly, the cell phone is pretty innovative. It not only adds freedom to the game but it also retains immersion, which makes it particularly impressive.

Pretty much everything else I have experienced thus far has been done in multiple WRPGs... I guess it's slightly innovative to add it to a sandbox game. Still, overall, it's not that amazing. The online mode is great but I hesitate to call it innovative if you include games outside the genre (and even Crackdown had some elements of it, though GTA is miles ahead of CD online).

Overall, it's a really polished game that moves the genre forward considerably. Innovative? A little. But it's not nearly as innovative as GTA III, a game that really threw the industry on its head and has been copied by every sandbox game made since that time. That's innovation.

I hope it doesn't become a trend... this is getting pathetic and ridicilous. And this is even coming from a Nintendo fan too. D:

You guys do realize people are aware that every game has flaws? A game can still get a ten and have flaws. No game is perfect, most people realize that. I've not seen a Grand Theft Auto IV review that says the game didn't have any flaws. At least not so far. But I do think it's a good quality game for what it is, and I'm not even much of a GTA fan (I've just never understood what made it so... great, I guess).

As much as I like VGChartz, I must be honest. I'm not too interested in the community. Most (I'd say a good 70% of the people here) are too caught up in the fanboyism and politics of gaming, and are mostly just people waiting to ravenously insult another user on the forums. I tried participating in the forums but rather than discuss it seems most of you would rather tear other people down. Why is it necessary to insult everyone who thinks differently than you? Also, not everything here is a fanboy conspiracy. I see the word fanboy here than I do on most forums out there. I'm sorry, I don't want to be a part of a community that's so negative towards everyone all the time. I'd rather go to a place where the people of a forum are more willing to discuss and step away from personal attacks any time someone disagrees with them. I just can't take it anymore.

So I ask, respectfully, that you don't add me. I'll more than likely respond to respectful messages but don't count on me being on the forums too much and don't count on me accepting your friend request.

Yes, every game has flaws. GTA has enough to warrant a lower score IMO. Especially when you look at the asshats at IGN who gave every single category a 10. Given the acting, dialogue, graphical quality, and framerate/pop-in of the game, that's ridiculous and 100% bullshit.

But while I've never understood what made GTA great, I've never knocked it. It just isn't my cup of tea. People are pretty passionate about the game, though. I think a lot of the high scores it gets are probably true scores. Maybe some tens are a little over the top, but I've never heard anyone say it has no flaws.
