Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 only: GTAIV split screen

I dunno, I doubt it's exclusivity :P It would be a pretty moot point either way xD I mean I prefer the 2 player over the DLC, but thats only because GTA games are too damn massive xD I still can't see this being only for PS3 though.

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

This is ps3 box art. If you look really hard, you can see it says 1-2 players offline multiplayer, so it might actually be true.

Is the place you are getting this image from very reliable? If so that's fairly good evidence that PS3 will have split screen, but it doesn't mean that the 360 won't have it.

I assume so, tbh though, i just googled it haha, but it looks legit. so that would be proof right there.

I saw that one too. there is a bigger picture of it somewhere. It looks like the Ps3 GTA4 bundle though so people will say its photoshopped but there is a picture that just came out with someone holding the bax art and it talking about the min HW space needed.

I'm going to have to question the images validity actually. I looked at that site and it seems that the VGboxart site is a place where people make boxarts and send them in. So while this could be the official box, I'm going to have to see another source on the matter to be certain.

...

I am a bit disappointed as a 360 owner that this might not be included for the Xbox because maybe the 360 just can't handle multiscreen which is a bummer. I wouldn't really use it if i had it but it's nice to know my console can do it. I'm happy about the DLC though but, damn, i wouldn't mind so much if Rockstar said it had nothing to do with the 360's hardware but infact Sony made a deal of their own.

Yeah that site is for people who like to make box art. Bad source sorry!

Are you for cereal?!
That's a pretty big feature, kinda weird that they keep a feature like that exclusive :/

San Andreas was 1-2 offline multiplayer. It does not mean it is split screen.

San Andreas was 2 player for some mini games like pool.

C.You do know that consoles can be hooked up to monitors right? Really worth checking out, I personally have this device: http://www.xcm.cc/xcm_1080p_vga_box.htm

Completely off the GTA topic, but I used a Kworld 1440 TV box to hook up my PS3 to my monitor, but those things actually do make the image look crappy. When I had DMC4, the DMC logo was choppy around the edges. But if you have a HDMI to DVI cord, and a DVI compliant monitor, then BAM! 1080i/p goodness, depending on your maximum resolution

Do you want potential downloadable content that may or may not be ok or play splitscreen now? Just the poor quality of the 360 hardware alone convinced me of what version to get, but having spitscreen will soften the pain of no extra dlc completely. What is for sure is that Sixaxis is supported and 1080P

Honestly, you sound like you are from Sony Defense Force.

A.  I'll take the DLC over split screen every time.

B.  You don't own a 360, so THAT'S what convinced you to get the PS3 version, not the "poor quality of 360 hardware alone"

C.  Less than 1% of the TV's in North American homes display 1080p so few of us really care.

D.  Sixaxis controls suck.

I have both consoles and will buy the 360 version for DLC/Achievements/online with friends via Live, and it's not even a question.  Might I regret it if the DLC sucks or the frame rate is truly really bad?  Sure.  ButI doubt that it's the case.  All the preview builds and screenshots and stuff have been shown on 360 and people said it's strong.

Both versions will be fun, and beyond that it's just preference.  But don't be a blind fanboy and give MS its due for having the foresight to carve a piece of the GTA pie out for themelves.  You can love Sony all you want, but it doesn't make them perfect.

A. I won't.

B. Both my 360's died. I had a 360, blame MS and their poor construction for alienating me from them. I am not from Sony defense force, more ofg the "Scared away by ms victims group"

C.You do know that consoles can be hooked up to monitors right? Really worth checking out, I personally have this device: http://www.xcm.cc/xcm_1080p_vga_box.htm#

To be fair, playing 1080p on a 20" monitor is no where near the same as playing it on a 50" HDTV, which is far more impressive

D. Sigh, how can you judge the functionality of Sixaxis implemantation in GTA4 without trying it.

And how much people like it does vary, as some people even like the Lair motion controls, and in HS and Ratchet there is very good application of its functionality
