Forums - Sales Discussion - Famitsu sales: W35, 2019 (Aug 26 - Sep 01) aka SW explosion

I thought Astral Chain lifetime sales would be similar to Xenoblade Chronicles 2 globally. Have to hope other regions pick up the slack because XC2 sold 97k FW in Japan.

Why compare a New IP to a franchise?

Because I expect them to sell similar? (Globally at least)

Xenoblade sits at 1.75m sold globally, I expected Astral Chain to reach somewhere around 1.5m globally.

Remember that in Japan physical games are more expensive than US. Besides, the vouchers may seem to hit those sale. If we account with the digital sales, the game will do better.

Astral Chain did a lot better than the previous Nintendo/Platinum collaboration The Wonderful 101. To me, the sales of Astral Chain look decent enough because I had no high expectations for the game in Japan.

Wasn't the last collab Bayonetta 2?

Very nice sales for the Switch and 9/10 games on the top 10.

Xenoblade 2 was at 1.75 m back at February.I wouldnt be surprised if it was above 2 millions at this point.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Yes it was. Maybe he was adding a new IP qualifier to it.

The Switch HW are seriously impressive. More battery life is quite important to a handheld, so I can definitely see why people want it.

Astral Chain start pretty poor. The fact that Azur Lane is top of the chart is pretty funny to me. Shipgirls working hard

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Check out MyAnimeList and my Game Collection. Owner of the 5 millionth post.

Apparently Astral Chain is sold-out both on Amazon and for some retail chains, I wonder if this affected the physical sales, certainly if it's sold-out Nintendo didn't expect it to sell this much which is a good sign.
