Forums - Sports Discussion - The NFL Thread 2019: The Kansas City Chiefs Win Super Bowl LIV

Who do you believe will have a stronger defense in 2020?

Patriots 2 66.67%

Steelers 1 33.33%

Total:3

The Eagles are trying their hardest to lose to the Giants.

Yeah you were definitely complaining and it was adorable. Imagine being a young Pats fan who has known nothing but great success and snapping because a couple people made some honest and logical NFL posts 😆

Next time you are wondering why people might enjoy seeing the Pats suffer, take a look in the mirror. I didn’t list Pats fans earlier but your last few posts are a stark reminder of what is probably reason number one.

Nice of you to try and tell me how I feel. Not that I really even consider myself a Pats fan (just more testament to your ignorance to assume that), as much as a Brady fan who just follows the Pats. They could move on from Brady and still be dominant, and I'd simply wish them good luck.
But I love that you use, "being a young Pats who has known nothing but great success", as if there aren't real Pats fans who are reaching their middle-ages that have also known nothing but success, because that's how long their dominance has reigned.

"honest and logical NFL posts". Sure, if that's how you want to rationalise it. Envy is the religion of the mediocre, as they say.

I've watched this team go to the AFC championship with Tom Brady throwing to Reche Caldwell and Jabar Gaffney. Hasn't looked great recently, but I still believe they'll get it together. It's (unfortunately) a ton of growing pains from trying to integrate a bunch of new pieces on offense recently.

You can get away with lack of throwing weapons if you have a good o-line and running game. Last year their weapons looked spent but they still had a good o-line and the running game was great in the playoffs. This year their weapons are even worse, the o-line is a shambles and the running game is non-existent. They just had 104 rush yards and 20 of them were from Tom Brady. 104 rush yards against the 30th ranked run defense and 20 were Brady.

The just got boo'd off the field in New England, where they won 21 straight games. I think that's pretty gross, but I can't blame them for being frustrated with the embarrassing product being put on the field.

Well, the 2006 team went to the AFCG with neither, so, yeah.

And our running game was awful in 2018 until the last couple weeks of the season. Even then, we were subaverage in Y/A, and the perception of the team's running success is just mostly due to playoff success. Which is...well, yeah, the team getting it together at the end of the year.

More to the point, though, I've just heard all this shit before. The Patriots have been "done" on so many different occasions that I can't take it seriously. They were done back in 2012 when they were 1-2 and getting lit up by Buffalo before turning it around. They were done in 2014 when they got blown out at Kansas City. They were done in 2017 when their defense got shredded four straight games at the start. And then they were really, really, for realsies done after they lost two games in a row last year to the Dolphins and Steelers (both teams that missed the playoffs). Those 2018 Patriots were really done, for good that time. So many analysts declaring they would go one and done. Hell, one dude on ESPN claimed that they were the worst team in the divisional round. Every single one of those years, they at least went to the AFCG.

Anything that seems bad at this point, has been worse before, and the Pats have made it through. Weapons on offense? 2005/2006 was worse, both teams won playoff games. Running game/offensive line? 2005/2006 was worse, to say nothing of 2015. Getting booed at home at halftime? Happened in 2013. Like for the love of biscuit, this is Bill Belichick and Tom Brady we are talking about. They are a 10-3 team. They have the Bengals, Bills, and Dolphins to get their collective shit together before the playoffs. If anyone can find a way to work through this, it's the guys who have won six Super Bowls together.

I'm not going to sit here and claims that everything's wonderful, or that the Patriots will win the Super Bowl, or something. But anyone who thinks that out of everything the Patriots have overcome in the past, this is somehow the obstacle that's too great to overcome is just being controlled by recency bias.

Yeah that’s all most Pats fans are, just Brady fans. Which makes sense, because they didn’t root for the team until he got there and they won’t root for him when he and BB is gone.

Where’s this envy you’re referencing? Why would anyone envy something that makes you post this nonsense 😆

$50 says they'll be given a slap on the wrist again like they always are. Bob Kraft must sleep with Goodell's daughter or some shit to be caught cheating this much and still be given a slap on the wrist.

Wheras if this were the NCAA, they'd be out of the league by now and banned for the rest of the year in 2007.

If you can't even spell my name right at least keep it out of the thread title. Shouldn't the obvious title be related to the new Patriots 'scandal' anyway? Or are you putting these cute titles in to avoid talking about any of your team's problems?

Reinforces the genius of cutting Antonio Brown to avoid negative attention, just to wind up receiving negative attention, because the NFL, it's teams and the media will literally find anything to hang over their heads at this point (like accusing them of spying on the 1 win Bengals).

Far as I'm concerned, I'm just actively hoping Brady will choose any other available team this offseason. At least with another team, Brady can focus on his work knowing they won't cut every bit of talent from the offense (but that doesn't make the headlines, only Tom Brady and his decline makes headlines), and won't be getting his name dragged through the mud with made-up scandals that somehow discredit his achievements.
"Who benefitted the most, from the learned signals and the tendencies of a defense. Who benefitted the most? Who has the ball the most in their hands?" -actual quote from a high profile media personality, and this isn't some lone sentiment.

Really just sickens me that a 42yrd old HOFer can still be dedicating his life to this sport and trying to play at a high level, and the mess that's happening around him is somehow managing to hurt his career and reputation. He just has to part ways with the Patriots for his own sake, and whatever he has left he can give to another team, where it'll at least be judged fairly.

Russia could start a nuclear war with the US and the NFL could switch to being a kickball league and you'd still be talking about how the Patriots are screwed and how Tom Brady is being hosed or whatever. A "cute" thread title isn't gonna stop that talk.

Week 15 Predictions

Rol you talk about the Packers more than my dad and my dad was born in Wisconsin. You are from Austria. I least have excuse for liking Brady since I grew up liking Michigan to go against my mom's school Ohio State. You are just some wannabe German that likes USA football team. I fucking pray to Odin you least have a cheesehead hat because if you don't then you aren't a Packers fan.

Your post is better than the one of the guy who insisted that it's only allowed to support an NFL team if you live in the same state as the NFL team in question.

Anyway, I am looking forward to watch the Packers on TV again after some weeks of streams. The schedule of week 15 is very lame in terms of matchups between playoff contenders, so Bears@Packers didn't have it hard to make it on TV. The late game will have the Rams and Cowboys which speaks volumes about how disappointing the overall schedule is this week.

Packers vs Bears should be good the most important matchup will be Titans vs Texas the winner of that game will more then likely win the division and the looser might not make it into the playoffs.  I'm rooting for the Texans but the Titans will probably win that one since they are on a four game winning streak.
