Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony Confirms PS5 Players and PS4 Players Will Be Able to Play Together

I'll get a PS5 at some point. But, since I have a PS4 Pro, and many games will be cross gen for the first year or two, and considering the Halo: Infinite will likely be a launch title for XB2, it's likely that the XB will be my first entry into the next gen.

This is good news, but it could mean that PS4 games run on PS5 without further enhancements (over the PS4 Pro settings, if these are available), as these could give PS5 players a competitive edge.

Importantly confirms 30FPS, no thanks.

No surprise. This gen they bunched together PS4, PS3 and Vita players.

Hunting Season is done...

Was that ever not the case? And why would it be split in the first place? It's the same servers. It'd be like dividing AMD and Nvidia players on PC.

You do know that's not how it works? Do you think PC players are locked to the framerate of the lowest player. 60 fps and 30 fps can play together just fine.

Kinda obvious, PS3 to PS4 has limitations due to specs and how the PS3 was developed. PS4 to PS5 seems more like just taking your PC and putting in a new graphics card making it more powerful, I honestly expect controllers to work over them, games to run on both and PS+ share play to work too.

Hmm, pie.

Can't wait to play Days Gone in that seamless manner that I was hoping for.

That's not even close to how it works.

The refresh rate of the server is the only thing that matters.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Internet connection is probably the main factor for online performance between two people's experience but that happens on every system.
