Forums - Gaming Discussion - Team Sonic Racing has seen quite an improvement

Given the previous ones were Sega crossovers and this one degraded it to being just Sonic, I just don't want to buy it, honestly. Even though the last game was fantastic.

It is a little disappointing that they dropped the "All-Stars" moniker.

No other franchises in the mix and the release of CTR remastered next month makes this a no boy at release.

No boy?

Sonic racing transformed was right up there with my favorites, modNation racers was another. I played this at Gamescom a year ago, didn't impress me much. Looks to have improved a lot though. Just wish it was all Sega, rather than just Sonic.

I'm really surprised at how many folks are passing this up on character selection alone. It would make me a little salty if they add other franchises to the mix later and hide them behind a DLC paywall.

it still looks too slow for my liking, although that could be to do with the difficulty it's being played on, I mean, they very easily took and maintained first place the entire race, so who knows.

It does look like it's being played on the equivalent of 50cc or 100cc difficulty. And it doesn't look any slower than MK8 really, to me anyway. If anything I'd say it looks a bit faster.

This game looks good, but I'm not really into racing games other than Mario Kart.

Why are you so sure that CTR will be good? Beenox has a reputation for being a mediocre developer at best, and they have never done a racing game before CTR Nitro-Fueled. On the other hand, Sumo Digital's racing team has a good reputation, with games like OutRun 2006, Race Driver 2006, TOCA Race Driver 3, and Sonic & Sega All-Star Racing Transformed all getting over 80 on metacritic. Sumo racing team has also provided assistance to Turn 10 and Playground on the last 4 Forza games.

Yeah Sumo have a much better track record than Beenox.

From a Switch perspective especially, Sumo have proven themselves with decent ports of games like Sonic All Stars Racing & Transformed and Snake Pass to Nintendo plaforms.

Impressions from people who played it.
