Forums - General Discussion - Have you ever faced unemployment or long term unemployment before?

This thread just seems like you're reaching further and further for people to give you Pity or agree with your stance on life and not wanting to work or not wanting to be told no, most people deal with getting told no when they're sub 10 years old, they throw a tantrum and then figure that doesn't change the situation.

Everyone hates getting told no or having an interview go wrong, that's a part of living. If everyone took your stance of thinking about work as slavery and didn't do it... Where would welfare payments come from?

My issues make it hard for me to randomly call strangers or approach strangers in person seeking employment.
I stick to emails only so I can apply for more and well it does not hurt my feeling that being rejected in person.
I can not handle dealing with people that I do not know in face to face interactions.

I have considered doing other courses + no relevant experience, more time wasted, the cost of the courses. I decided not to do further study that only makes me over qualified for menial low end jobs.

I considered the idea of running my own business and becoming and entrepreneur. Why be a slave and be underneath a boss? When you can be your own boss and be self employed. Work your own hours, any time you want. I really hate the hierarchy system and I have a disregard towards authority. I could not come up with any good ideas for a self employment business which costs nothing in set up costs.

Here's a list of 50 things that you can do to earm money from home: https://scottalanturner.com/50-legitimate-ways-to-make-money-from-home-in-2016/

Maybe some things there may be interesting for you. If so, just give it at least a try.

That is one big advertisement :p

No, I am not lazy. I am not too lazy to work a hard low paying job while I was getting my medical degree.

Nah just from years 0-15 lol
Been working since then from summer jobs to a administrative part time gig while in college to now full time as a soon to be financial directer of a charter school in NYC (if i dont do anything stupid and fu*k up).
Im only 22 and graduated 3 months ago but anything is possible if you put in actual effort.
If you want a respectable job you will definitely need some experience and develop your communication skills. Pursuing a career is like climbing a ladder, you start out small but you keep climbing and reach something larger and bigger.
But everyone's different and have their own style with/without any advantages.
In my case I grew up in a lower income area in NYC with conservative asian parents so I definitely felt some pressure and expectations to fulfill as my parents pushed me to not become unsuccessful in life.
So my advice to you is find something anything just so you could apply it to your resume b/c experience is worth so much in the job sector in America. Also simply climb your own ladder and who knows maybe eventually you will end up with a job that pays well and might even enjoy.

Yes, with severe social-anxiety it's not really that easy to get someone to hire you when you become a bumbling mess

How about faking employment history and claiming qualifications on your resume? Using years instead of month/year on resume so it appears you have worked longer and have more experience. The references is the part that I leave off my resume. Businesses that have closed down can be added to resume, like a Blockbuster or Video store before they went out of business.

Depends on the consequences where you live.

In germany that's falsification of documents. That means up to 5 years in prison or a fine. Your employer can demand that you pay the whole salary back that you received. That's only when he finds out.

Plus he refused to work certain jobs as he believed they were "beneath him". - At the end of the day... A job is a job, you have to start from the bottom and work your way up... Doesn't matter what that job is, get your hands dirty, sit at a desk all day... Doesn't matter... It beats sitting on the dole and stagnating in life.

Start from the bottom, work your way up, Shit. I left home with only the shirt on my back, no money, only year 10 high-school, no experience, no house or car...

Well then, of course you didn't think any job was "beneath" you, since you didn't have a degree in the first place. It's easier to "start from the bottom" when you're already there in the first place - when you dedicate several years of your adult life to studying, though, it's only reasonable to expect a decent job in the area of work you've specialized in.

See, for me personally, I don't really mind doing random design stuff for my parents, just like I wouldn't mind working at some retailer or something similarly "lowly". However, if it has to do with music, I'm definitely not taking anything, I want something that fits me and/or will make me learn new things to improve my own skills. That's normal.

I would link you to the old thread but it was waaaaay to long to read.

Essentially a few of us tried to give him some tips. I even told him how to structure a cover letter and to include a resume.

His response was why bother giving a resume a cover letter is enough. If they want me they want me if they don't they don't. He didn't get the point that if someone else tries harder than you to impress the recruiter you will never get a chance to impress them in an interview.

He also said he hates working for the man. That alone is alarm bells.

No one knows where you come from, No one knows what you have been through. They do not know your state of mind. They are not you. It is easy to say I have lived easy life, I have job and all this success, anyone can do it too. Not everyone has the same opportunities in life or got lucky in life.
I have applied for thousands of jobs online and no responses/replies. i feel so hopeless not getting any responses and no feedback.

Do you mind posting your apply on how that looks? Difficult to believe that so many of yours aren't even responded to.

I offered months ago. I even gave him a template on how to apply for a job and what he shoudl submit. Got ignored.

Similar story to mine and similar average score of 63% for course and 1 failed unit and I also live in Australia. I could not gain any relevant work experience due to hot competition but I did not apply for graduate positions because I knew my grades were not good enough. I gave up looking for work in accounting within 3 months and tried to do a Drafting course that I quit within 2 months. Seeing it was going to be 3 or 4 more years of study and minimal chance of securing job I quit the Drafting Course. I was also too old to take on a trade apprenticeship, because over 21 years of age adult wages must be paid instead of the lower junior rates. I have never held a drivers license either, I failed it a couple of times and I just gave up because driving for me was too difficult and triggered my anxiety.

Mate I failed my first year at uni because all I did was drink and skip classes. Didn't realise how quick the time flies.

Uni was boring as fuck because the lecturers were old and out of touch with the real world. I did the minimal amount to pass my degree even less than your average as I could not care as I did not see how some of this shit was going to help me with work. Then in 3rd year we are forced to do work experience before we start the 4th. Once I got a taste for money and how the real world actually works, fmd my final year average went up to 70% because i wanted to get out of uni and find a good paying job.

I applied for the grad program as I told you before and rest was history.

I even moved when I lost that job. Just decided fuck it im done went to Victoria. I was offered three jobs there and locally I couldn't even get 1 as our industry was in a shit state.
