Very mixed feelings. They're still basically using the same models as Let's Go, which is disappointing. Some environments looked great with nice art, while others suffer from poor textures, Not happy that they're going back to random encounters with the overhead camera angle. The first true HD mainline Pokemon game should have had Pokemon on the overworld at all times. Return of gyms is ok, but the game really needs to do much more now that Pokemon is going HD.

Now I'm worried this will be like an HD version of X and Y rather than a true evolution of the series. I hope they prove me wrong in the months to come, because right now it looks like Lets Go did more to move the series forward than the new generation is doing.

They legit said that they were trying a bunch of new things, it’s too early to be doom and gloom

Everyone's complaining about the random encounters, but that was actually the thing that got me the most excited. It's good that they're clearly separating the main series from the Let's Go games.

Really?

I mean, really, really?

Yeah, I love the surprise that comes with random encounters in Pokémon. I find the Let's Go system to be quite boring (that applies to most of the game, honestly).

B O I

Hope we get to see Steeleon. I mean pokemon SWORD and SHIELD, they better put an Eevee with a sword on his mouth, just like Sif from dark souls

Oh my god people literally saw 3 minutes of gameplay and are already saying that the game is trash.

Man, it looks like a PS3 game and the camera seems to still be rubbish. Pokemon models look like they're straight from the past few Pokemon games, character models are shaded like a 3DS game...

I mean, it's a sizable jump but competition from Level 5 and Square Enix's Yokai Watch 4 and DQXI are miles ahead of the art direction of Sword and Shield. It doesn't look terrible by any means, and I am probably getting it day 1 but from what I've seen so far it leaves a little to be desired.

I like the artstyle, but the graphics look technically unambitious, especially if the world isn't all that interactive (like standard in pokemon games). And I'd prefer wild Pokémon running about etc not just to evade encoutering/fighting the same ones tons of time, but also to make the world look more lively.

Gotta say I'm pretty underwhelmed, graphically doesnt seem like a big deal, back to random encounters, starters feel a bit generic. Seems Gamefreak just playing it safe ocne again and not giving it their all.

Actually, I'd argue that they are giving it their all.
