Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy 15 was a Mediocre Disappointment

I think it's actually really good, I think I went from enjoying it, to being slightly disappointed and then steadily back round to really liking the game again. I'm looking forward to the next few dlc stories too and although it might be classed as a separate game (it is part of the main game right now) the Comrades multiplayer game is pretty fun too. Not sure where I would rank it against the other main games of the franchise, it'd probably be somewhere around the middle to lower end, but that's high praise from me because I enjoy all of them.

I quite enjoyed it. The presentation is second to none, controls are responsive and the world is very immersive and big. Even the story was OK. But so many things were a disappointment:

- I hated what they have done with the 4 main characters. They behave like spoiled and annoying 13 years old brat and generally they are totally out of place compared to the rest of the main characters. And their boots are ridiculously big compared to their bodies.
- The combat is an uninteresting mess. They tried to do something new but it's not fun. It's just mindless button mashing.
- The interface is not intuitive. How many times did I jump instead of using the contextual action ? that's stupid. Just use 2 buttons for those 2 actions. And also all the map and Teleporting systems are not very well done. They could have done better.

You mean mindless button holding xD

Biggest letdown in years for me... a game that had what?..10 years development I expected the second coming of Jesus.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

It was dissapointing:
- boring characters
- poorly told story
- bad combat system
- didn't like the music either (always listened music from other FFs while driving)
on plus side it has great graphics and open area to explore (which is still not the whole world like earlier FFs).
It sits in 9 place in my TOP10 Final Fantasies, even after FFXIII

It's flawed, it's uneven, but I think it was a good game overall and thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's not exactly mediocre, but it's most definitely not one of the greatest FF games either.

What it is though, is a huge, huge disappointment. Personally I'll add, if you feel the need to deny it. Opinions and all.

It bored me to tears. I hate... hate.... HATE that stupid car that goes sooo slow. It takes forever to either fast travel (loading time) or walk/drive from point A to point B. Everything you do feels like a chore because of that. The combat system seemed interesting but it can't save the game by itself. Also, product placement in a fantasy setting really bothered me. Fuck you Coleman!

Yes I agree. I forgot about that damn slow car. It looks like a monster car and can only move at around 100km/h. Ridiculous.

So that Noodle sidequest was fine ?

*Shivers*

I must not have made it that far. It doesn't ring a bell.
