This sounds extremely promising. If everything goes really well after launch critically and financially, I do hope seeing a resurgence of Marvel games in the future.

Vizigoth04 said: MS would pick Hulk guaranteed. Just because he's Green lol. I think if Sony gets a second offer and whether it's Insomniac or Sony Santa Monica I think Thor should be the pick. Traversing between Asgard and Earth. SSM can turn Thor into an actual hero through an Epiphany. Maybe Insomniac can work on Iron Man. Excited for what is to come. |
Sucker Punch also can certainly make super hero game, they also need a second team there.

Just imagine what could happen if, in the future, Marvel and Sony get in touch with them again and are like "So, we loved your Spider-Man game, you totally delivered, how would you like to work on ANOTHER game for us? It can be a sequel or you can even pick a different hero if you'd like!" I'm actually hoping this isn't just a one-off and Insomniac become THE Spider-Man studio, or get a chance to work on other Marvel games too... please don't let the IP fall into the hands of Activision again! :P |
"But the future of the Spider-Man console games is with Sony and Insomniac" by Vice President of Marvel Games :)
And Marvel says this Spider-Man game is canon, I think they are very happy about the quality of the game !
With great reviews and sales, a sequel will be developed for sure
I didn't realize that they got to pick their character. Interesting that they picked Spider-Man, as they could have tried a popular character like Iron Man who doesn't really have any notably great games already.
My favorite game about an established comic book hero is easily Spider-Man 2 on the PS2. Here is hoping they manage to surpass its greatness with this game.
curl-6 bet me that PS5 + X|S sales would reach 56m before year end 2023 and he was right.
My Bet With curl-6
My Threads:
Master Thread, Game of the Year/Decade
Switch Will Be #1 All Time
Zelda Will Outsell Mario (Achieved)
How Much Will MH Rise sell?
My Bet With Metallox

Except thins gen with Robert Downey Jr. Iron Man wasn't really a big IP. Also Spider-Man is one of the most popular heroes and would say that together with Batman is the most liked. Also Sony have the filming rights so perhaps Insominiac were more at easy (or had Some Sony incentive to choose it).
The point is if they were ok to offer any char there is chance for sony to buy rights (could be single title per time and Marvel may decide to send sequel other way, who knows what they would be willing now as they got more strict with their franchises and even more with Disney... still Disney had a good relationship to Sony on consoles since PS1) and release more IPs on Marvel Universe in the near future.

I think people have forgetten that Crystal Dynamics is already working on an Avengers game.
Here's the teaser from last year:
I understand the Spiderman-Sony connection and get why that is exclusive, but I hope that the rest of the upcoming marvel games are multiplat.
Bet with Intrinsic:
The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Marvel allowed Insomniac to choose what franchise they would like to work on.
