I didn't realize that they got to pick their character. Interesting that they picked Spider-Man, as they could have tried a popular character like Iron Man who doesn't really have any notably great games already.

My favorite game about an established comic book hero is easily Spider-Man 2 on the PS2. Here is hoping they manage to surpass its greatness with this game.

Except thins gen with Robert Downey Jr. Iron Man wasn't really a big IP. Also Spider-Man is one of the most popular heroes and would say that together with Batman is the most liked. Also Sony have the filming rights so perhaps Insominiac were more at easy (or had Some Sony incentive to choose it).

The point is if they were ok to offer any char there is chance for sony to buy rights (could be single title per time and Marvel may decide to send sequel other way, who knows what they would be willing now as they got more strict with their franchises and even more with Disney... still Disney had a good relationship to Sony on consoles since PS1) and release more IPs on Marvel Universe in the near future.
