Why do I have to choose? I’ve loved both. But, I guess I’ll say Xenoblade 2, because the combat feels deeper to me. That rabbit hole just keeps going.

Personally I don't like turn based combat or random encounters, so Xenoblade 2 gets my vote.

That said, Octopath does look exceptionally well made for what it is, it's just not my cup of tea.

I haven't touched either yet, but OT is a game that I'm a lot more excited about, and I plan to get it soon. I don't expect XC2 to be that great. I may not ever touch it.

They are completely different games, both are great in their special way, but this comparison is just... Mmm

I wish there was a demo for xenoblad for me to try it.

But from what the looks of both games to me is.
I would buy Xenoblade.

Haven’t started Octopath yet but having 35h played in XC2, I can say that I didn’t like it so Octopath should take it for me.

I think both are massive disappointments. Which one is the less bad? I guess Xenoblade 2?

Octopath Traveller, hooked me from the start while I'm not feeling the battle system of Xenoblade 2 after a few hours in but reading this thread it seems I should give it another chance.
