According to German news outlet Bild the UEFA is planning 2 big changes from 2021: https://sportbild.bild.de/fussball/2018/fussball/uefa-beschluss-europacup-neuer-wettbewerb-ab-2021-56967234.sport.html

  1. Downsize the Europa League from 48 teams to 32 teams. This should make the competition more attractive financially and in terms of quality of play
  2. Start a new 3rd European tournament with 32 teams

The state of this group:

Group D: Lokomotiv Moscow, Porto, Schalke, Galatasararay

Usain Bolt debut, played the last 20 minutes and he looked like a fish out of water. Sold out crowd to watch Bolt play in the A-League!

Relieved to get out with 3 points there. I expected a difficult match as Leicester are a decent team, but the opening 15-20 mins aside, it was a poor performance. The front three were almost non-existent (particularly Firmino and Salah), and we kept giving the ball away or trying to be too clever in dangerous positions (which led to the Leicester goal). As mentioned above though, there's a tough run coming up, so a maximum haul from these fixtures was a must. Performances will definitely need to pick up though. Just hope there's no injuries picked up in these pointless internationals.

60m for Alisson?

A good win for Liverpool though, despite their goalie.

Karius was dropped for making a couple of mistakes. Buy Alisson who made pretty much none last season, 3rd game in, makes a mistake. :P

Ironic.

Hmm, pie.

Karius made a couple of mistakes, yeah... lol. More like he had a woeful 18 months as a useless backup goalie who didn't save any shots on target, then had a decent run for about 5 months which also had occasional mishaps (Sané's goal in the 4-3, Kolarov's near goal in Roma 1st leg), and then finished off with 2 atrocious mistakes on the biggest and most important Liverpool match for over a decade.

Yeah, it's about the same as Alisson having 4 great games as goalkeeper tainted by one dumb mistake which ultimately proved irrelevant.

Yes, it is. Teams are fickle with their keepers at the moment and it's stupid, few are given a true chance if they have an issue, they are just ditched and left to sit on the bench in obscurity. I know this as I watch each week as McCarthy plays ahead of Forster, Forster hasn't changed, he and we went through a bad spell. Karius got Liverpool to that biggest game in a decade, Simon Mignolet sits on their bench.

Hmm, pie.

Hopefully Barca will win the Champions League this year. The last Champions League haven't been so good for us but this year the team looks very strong and promising.

They definitely have a good chance, and it would be great to see Messi win it again.

But Spanish teams have won the last 5 already (including 2 all-Spanish finals). Let another country win it for once maybe?

Juventus Turin and Paris Saint Germain have good chances too. And I wouldn't mind an English team winning it this year, Manchester City or Liverpool would be nice. Even a Bayern Munich win would be okay for me. I just don't want to see Real Madrid near the final again.

Roma to win champions League!

JK hahaha, but I think PSG is a really good contender this year. That team is stacked.
