Forums - Sony Discussion - Should Polyphony work on other sim-like games?

Nope, they already tried with Tourist Trophy and that game failed miserably.

turist trophy??

Several years ago, the studio head said he wanted to make an RPG. I am totally curious about what he would come up with.

I'd like to see an open world Gran Turismo that takes place during a music festival.

They can call it Gran Turismo Skyline.

I'd just love for any studio to be given at least one opprtunity to make a breakout game

Well the second game Playground Games is working on besides Forza Horizon 4 could become a breakout game.  Well at least I think it has a good chance of having a metascore higher then 80.

Polyphony still has too much left to do with Gran Tutismo to move to other projects. Within GT they can still add Drag Racing, Formula 1, NASCAR, Rally Cross, Dirt Bikes, Road Bikes, ATV's, Snowmobiles, and much more.

I would rather see Polyphony focus on making GT the ultimate home legitimate digital racing. A Utopia for motorheads of all walks. A place where people can race for real rewards, a place where people can hang out with others that share their interests, a place where creators can show off their mods to the motor culture.

In its ultimate form GT should be the Hub of all things digital and real world. Buy, sell, trade, learn, teach. Want to buy, sell, or trade a car, bike, parts, etc. Gran Turismo should have you covered, digitally and physically. Want tickets to a racing event, car show, or other motor related event, Gran Turismo. Want to learn about motor history, take classes on motor repair, learn to run your own shop or sales lot, Gran Turismo. Want to teach about a motoring subject, customization, restoration, etc. Gran Turismo. That is what I see as Gran Turismo in its ultimate form, like I said Motoring Utopia.

Yeah, that is never going to happen the franchise pretty much has had the same stale lineup of cars since GT5.  GT5 was also the last game in the franchise when they added a significant new car first before any other racing  game with the C7 Corvette.

I mean every new GT game sells less . its not like its getting worse as a series. there is only so much you can do with a sim before you start to repeat yourself

Well its actually getting worse as a series.  But heck it made it to seven main games a lot of game franchises burn out long before reaching seven games and don't even make it to a seventh game.
