Forums - Sony Discussion - Should I continue Bloodborne? And why?

I have no idea how you could understand the plot and your objectives with only what the game gives you in one playthrough, specially the events after you defeat Rom. The game goes nonsense and (more) disjointed after that.

Not if you read the item descriptions and do the chalice dungeons, not sure I did get the full scope on the ending but I know after the platinum I had a good enough grasp of the story to draw conclusions and the story definitely stayed with me long after I did plat. Pretty sure there is a lot you'd miss out on if not going for the platinum but it's so long ago my memory is fairly fuzzy.

I did read the descriptions. All of them. It helps you to build the background of the world, just like dark souls. But again the problem os the objectibe.

You start and get the objective "seek the pale blood". No idea what it is or where. And the old hunter tells you you need it to escape the huntera dream. Then you go killing monsters and advancing the game. When you get to Rom you get a new objective out of nowhere, just a message on the screen and things just gets crazier, i will stop here dont want to give spoilers. Its just bad executed.

Again comparing to dark souls... wow... you have a clear objective since the begginning and an amazing story behind the curtains.

But I still love bloodborne anyway.

1. There should be a Messenger Bath from which you can purchase items using Insight, but it's generally agreed upon that having more Insight is for advanced players. As a newcomer, you want to keep yours below 10.

2. Nope, just ring your Small Resonant Bell where you can. In order to join specific people, you'll need to set up a password. If you want to help people fight, say, the Cleric Beast then you should go to where the Ogre is, kill him, and ring your bell. Or ring your bell at any lantern that will allow it.

3. That's also a way to deal with spacing, but the intention is to help you learn how to keep a safe distance. Riposting is the act of countering with your gun immediately prior to the attack. I'm not saying you didn't know how to do either of these things, just that these bosses are there to teach those things.

4. Yeah, I get it. But you should go watch Vaatividya's breakdown of the story. It really helps put everything in focus.

1. & 2. Alright, I'll keep that in mind.

3. I see. Yeah I did practice countering with my gun before, and during the Gascoigne fight.

4. Actually I already saw one of his videos, or a part of it, when looking into if there's any proper interaction with NPC's. I'll watch the full video once I finish the game, or if I do.

There's a handful of NPCs in the game, but they're easy to miss. Lots of people don't even see Eileen until she's an enemy.

My personal advice for every game, no matter genre or company: if you don't like at the beggining or not enjoying it, just move onto the next game.

There are so many games that not liking one is by no means a problem.

Yeah , I figured that. Though I did meet Eileen on my way to find my first Madman's Insight.

Well if I did that, I never would have finished what became my favorite game of all time, Suikoden 2.
I know some games start off slow, and I'm not particularly far into Bloodborne. If it was a more laid back experience I would have just pressed on a bit further myself, but I figured sharing my thoughts here may also help me realize why I didn't particularly enjoy myself so far.

KILL HER AND TAKE HER THINGS.

Shame she is a really interesting npc and her weapon, rune and armor are great. Though you need to defeat a particular anoying enemy in a cathedral to get them. Suddenly proving that bloodtinge isn't really useless. Regarding OP, since you like the cane more than the saw cleaver I would advise you to use skill weapons. They are usually more fun to use and have more interesting transformed modes.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Same happened to me, more or less. I completed it and didn't felt the impact at first as to why people were regarding it as even better game than the Dark Souls franchise. Then I let it gain dust for about 2 years.

The day it came on the Plus I told myself I should at least try and get the platinum now that will be packed with noobs I might get interested again. And so I kept playing with the same character I had created that was packed with goodies and made my life easier in NG+. Just by replaying it I actually did start enjoying all of it, from the lore to the environment. It's a lot grimmer than Soul series, but from a single player experience it is really much more rich and compelling. The difficulty in the dungeons is also a new layer of fun, however it can be grindy sometimes.

Later I purchased the DLC and since then I've been cooping with a NG character because the bosses are actually a lot fun there. I haven't had much fun in DS3 because of how everything feels so PvP related these days and I fell out of love for it since the first Dark Souls (and because it lags a lot too for me). But my advice would be, find your poison. Not everyone will like the mood of the game because it's too bloody, but the lore should be a very good thing to keep you tuned in or the amazing set of weapon (DLC ones are superb).

Here's how I would place it on a list next to the other games

Dark Souls 1

Demon's Souls

Bloodborne

DS2

DS3

My placement seems to be more in line with their MC scores:

92 - Bloodborne

91 - Dark Souls 2

89 - Dark Souls

89 - Demon's Souls

87 - Dark Souls 3

Though I would personally take Dark Souls 2 and place it on the bottom. Not that it's a bad game, just the weakest in an impressively solid lineup.

If you don't like this game don't feel bad. Bloodborne along with Uncharted 4, Nioh and God of war are the reasons why I turn on my ps4.
