Forums - General Discussion - Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior

Nope. Went to a Catholic church as a kid, but I couldn't get behind it. Too many things just don't make any sense. I felt I would rather spend my life doing other things I enjoyed. Btw, I help people all the time and do a lot of community work. I don't need religion or a God to justify doing the right thing and having good morals.

people applying the most basic teachings of a supposedly ''non-existent'' person their whole life, sounds like applying Pythagora's theorem and at the same time deny that Pythagoras ever existed

Firstly. if I may, atheists typically do not deny Jesus existed.  They separate the man from the deity.

Secondly, a man that espouses peace, love, brotherhood and other similar ideals is not wholly limited to Christian dogma or history.  You think Jesus was the first person to preach love and peace?

of course he wasn't the first to preach love and peace, do you know who was it, or does anyone know who was the first to teach love and peace? why did no other before him made an impact with ''love and peace'' teachings alone?

do you believe that the only Christian values Western atheists apply are ''love and piece''? maybe you are planning to marry 4 women all at once, 3 children each lol

there is a reason he is Jesus and not just someone who taught love and peace, which is where the ''separate the man from the deity'' point comes

the very reason Jesus was persecuted was because apart from his teachings, the masses also witnessed the miracles and became his followers, Roman kings felt threatened by his ''son of god'' claims and the overall trend he caused...

you think you make sense but you don't, unless you believe Jesus was the first to teach about love and peace

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Yes I believe. Catholic and Joyous!

Not going to get involved in this discussion further as I know this isn’t the best venue to debate, have discourse, or even teach.

However I will add that faith and logic do go hand in hand. The issue is that many dont have the background or understanding that it is true when you add the study of Theology and a sprinkle of Philosophy to the equation. I find it disappointing that the Arts have taken a backseat to Science in this generation. They need and should complement each other to have a better understanding of life, existance, and meaning.

Either way, Peace!

Nope just fundamentally wrong. Religious faith is belief absent evidence, which is antithetical to the entirety of logic. The entire point of logic is to get to what is true either deductively or inductively, e.g. via evidence. Did you even read the Bible? It says verbatim "being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."

Theology is like studying fairies, entirely fruitless.

You realize Christianity isn't the oldest religion right? Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Jainism, and more are all older. They all have taught similar values and so forth. Only difference is, Christianity has a face behind it. Christianity is a result of a bunch of different religions before it. Nothing wrong with that honestly.

It's just funny when one religion claims to be the best and only one that matters, when it wasn't even the first.

I think there is tons of evidence, the thing is if you trust/accept them or not, no Jesus is gonna come to you just to prove the is real :P

what is missing is ''proof'' in terms of logic, which makes sense to me, religion is based on belief that there are beings of a higher intelligence and spiritual existence in another dimension, it is to be expected that human logic is not powerful enough to understand and explain everything related

You mean subjective evidence which cannot be evaluated and for non believers and believers in other deities it's the same as no evidence at all.

Jesus is our Lord and Savior

non-believers trust their weak brain too much, human intelligence is like that of a worm compared to god

god created science in the first place... humans are just doing their best to discover it

This is a facetious post, right? Like, there's no way you actually believe this, is there?

Please, for the love of the land and the future of our society, please don't actually believe something so foolish, willfully ignorant, and misguided.

If you do, please don't breed.

I thought you're all about tolerance? Oh right, you mean you're only tolerant of people that believe the same things you do.

Tolerance has its limits. I also don't want people who think the earth is flat to reproduce.

I do not believe this and it is very offensive to assert that someone who has wronged me can ultimately be forgiven by a third party.

Have you read the Bible?  The Jews were more interested in executing Jesus than the Romans.  Jesus committed sins which were punishable by death according to Jewish law such as doing work on the Sabbath.
