Forums - Sales Discussion - PS4 Won February NPD (PS4: 363K, XBO: 310K, NSW: 279K)

Still 4th year guys, no need to pushing.
Now what is the importance of this when PS4 is still a fine piece of tech, with no successor and having strong software support from its producer and AAA third parties? Any reasoning on that?

5th year

2014-year 1

2015-year 2

2016-year 3

2017-year 4

2018-year 5

What exactly are you asking?

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I can't believe I have to do this but it seems people can't keep track of years.

Nov 13 - Nov 14 the 1st year
Nov 14 - Nov 15 the 2nd year
Nov 15 - Nov 16 the 3rd year
Nov 16 - Nov 17 the 4th year
Nov 17 - Nov 18 the 5th year

PS4 is in the middle of its 5th year. Get that through your skulls.

The importance of mentioning PS4's age like if is some kind of miracle selling so well, like if its life is coming to an end, like if people are going disdain the product just bc it is a "senior" console

Cool, @Meggido, thanks for the heads up

How do the ps4 (363k) and XBO (310k) numbers compare to Feb 2017 npd? Anyone have those numbers?

2014

PS4-285k

XBO-258k

2015

PS4-342k

XBO-276k

2016

PS4-405k

XBO-248k

2017

PS4-398k

XBO-215k

2018

PS4-363k

XBO-310k

Thank you, sir.

So if true, this would be xbo’s highest Feb ever. I know it’s price has been cut since the holidays down to as low as $220, and they had an official $50 price cut on all bundles I think in February, but is there any other reason XBO would’ve gained momentum this month?

Mostly the price cuts. Much easier for someone to buy a X1 slim over a PS4 if it's ~50-70 dollars cheaper and comes with a hot game like PUBG.

Nice. Guess we're going to have to look at Amazon with a little more scrutiny, now. Should be fine to use for PS4 and XBO, though. Also, it's obvious that the Switch is still going to do well (I'm guessing right around what the 3DS did), but if things don't change, it doesn't look like it is going to hit $100M+.

All 3 consoles are doing well. What is better or not... Who cares?

It's a very gen so far for everyone.

Except for those who enjoy XBox exclusives. Those have been somewhat fucked all gen long. :-/

Dont think so tbh, its just it was 70-80$ cheaper than the PS4 counterparts, and came with PUBG.
That was enough to raise sales for the month (deal ran basically entire month long too).

two weeks.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.
