Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Switch has a surprising lack of local multiplayer games

I wouldn't say it has a lack. But I was surprised/Dissapointed at no local multiplayer in Splatoon 2 (especially since they took out gamepad functionality) and lack of a decent pick up and play party game from Nintendo (1, 2 Switch is beyond basic)

Puyo Puyo Tetris is very good for a local 4 player game on one console. But a new Mario Party or a port of Itadaki Street 30th Anniversary would be great! I love board games. I don't have Monopoly, but I think it's not that much fun.

Actually Switch already has solid number of multiplayer games, like this list is showing, and it seems that Nintendo with games is actually forcing local multiplayer on Switch.

Youve kinda purposefully ignored an metric shit ton of games in that OP though

How many nanoseconds of research did you do before deciding to make this thread? My guess is zero.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Well, with paid online they're definitely going to focus more on the online aspect this generation.

They're coming. But the most important one, Smash Bros, is already on the way.

You're kidding. Right?

Just list a few:

- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Super Mario Odyssey
- Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove
- Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
- Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle
- Kirby Star Allies
- Snipperclips Plus: Cut It Out, Together!
- Fast RMX
- Super Bomberman R
- Pokken Tournament DX
- ARMS
- Fire Emblem Warriors
- Overcooked: Special Edition
- Fifa 18
- Just Dance 2017 and 2018

and many other games...

There are definitely more good quality games for local multiplayer, than on Wii U in the same time (I will agree, however, that Nintendo Land is hard to beat).

Get Crawl. I know it's an indie game, and not first party, but it's one of the best local multiplayer experiences available today, and is a perfect fit for the Switch. Only $15, too!
