Unless sales start to decline rapidly this year, I doubt we'll see the PS5 in 2019. Nov. 2020 is the earliest I expect to see it.

With Holidays 2021 the most certain date.

Would be a terrible idea to launch so soon.

Lol, the updated "Rumor" reads like an unaware PS wet dream. And the leaker says we'll see a PS5 game (Blade Runner) at PSX 2017...that did not happen, lol. Please don't update what was mildly believable with pure craziness.

And it supports BC for PS1-3 and not 4? That would shake up a lot of PlayStation fans in terms of what they thought PS5 would be.

Custom architecture...what? No, no. Those days are over. And all of a sudden Sony can make a more efficient, very cheap, 4k capable device without AMD or Nvidia, with mandatory 60fps, up to 120fps, and make it for $450? I don't buy this BS for a second, it's old as heck, flawed in logic, and doesn't even deserve to be deemed a rumor.

2019, lol.

Early 2019 already confirm it's fake.
4 gens worth of BC would be cool, tho. Physical and Digital.

Isn't it funny how we had a similar discussion last month? This is in line with last generation 2011 the first rumours coming in.  This year the dev kit, next year we get the project name (like ps4's OBAN).

2011 was full with but we still get so many games like that Naughty dog game why would they release so soon?

If history has shown us anything about console sales, it's that each new gen is for the most part a completely fresh start - most people don't really think too much about which console they owned before when buying the next. Hence the PS1 beat the N64, the Wii (and in quite a few regards the 360) beat the PS3, and the PS4 and XBO again beat the Wii U, while the Switch is selling superbly. This means that Sony can absolutely not afford to fuck up this laucnh (especially as consoles are getting more ecosystem based. People haven't cared too much about which console they owned so far, but I suspect that will be changing with bigger digital libraries, achievements, stuff that makes you "invested" in the ecosystem, and that makes next gen crucial for Sony).

Luckily, this "rumour" seems to be a load of bollocks.

Globally in USA you mean right?

Because Globally even with all the fuckups PS3 still outsold X360. and Won all other gens.

This sounds like the PS3 all over again.

Custom Hardware
Unique way of coding
Including previous console hardware for BC
More than 1 display at once
High price at launch

The price needs to be $400 just like with the PS4 and everything will be all right :)

It makes no sense to launch the PS5 PRO at launch of the normal PS5 since the tech will continue to move forward; so it will be better to make the PRO version 2-3 years later so that it has a significant enhancement.

Agree, it would be pretty cool to have a system that can play all those games, that way i wont have to worry about my PS3 breaking and loosing access to a ton of games including many that i havent played yet.
