Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Direct Announced for Thursday March 8th at 5PM EST

The description is such a letdown. It sounds like they’re going to talk about only Hyrule Warriors, DK, Mario Tennis and some localizations for 3DS games. I mean, the way they mentioned especifically Mario Tennis (which I love btw) to me means it won’t even have announcements. At least not first party ones. And if that’s the case, we’re going to have to wait until E3 to get something.

This is not good. I’m worried.

It's not going to be a huge Direct. They're probably going to focus on games that are alrady announced. However, it's rather unlikely they're not going to announce anything new at all. I'm expecting a bunch of minor games and 3rd party ports, and maybe a new summer title (Fire Emblem?).

The holiday games will probably be shown at E3.

Honestly i only want details for Yoshi/Octopath/Mario tennis some multi like Hollow Knight and W2 and a big game teased or a better teaser for Metroid Prime 4.

Having Mario Tennis Aces as the highlight game points to this being a low key direct, but I also hope it means they have faith Mario Tennis is a really great game. I swear though if they announce a new 3DS game! Also yes, that Marcus guy was right about this pointless rumor, but is still wrong a lot and lies about it, so I still wont be taking him seriously.

If you want to read this much into the announcement text, you may as well note that this Direct concerns games launching this year. That's certainly a step up from "games launching this spring" or similar statements.

Additionally, you should consider that this is announced as a Direct and not a Direct Mini, so it would be fair to expect something grander than what we saw in January. Of course, it's always better to keep expectations in check instead of engaging in wild fantasies that can't possibly come true.

I do expect Fire Emblem, Yoshi, and 3rd party/Indie stuff which would explain covering the whole year, and Fire Emblem could be that grander thing. Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Smash, Pokemon, etc? Nah wont expect those.

Just glad to get some news. It should be light before E3, but we've been wrong before. It'll be good to see more of Aces. Looks much better than Ultra Smash.

Uh, so what's your point? That excerpt does not mean they can't announce a new 3DS game set to release this year, if that's what you're trying to say. Or if it's the opposite, that it means they will, then not necessarily, they could just be covering already announced games like Detective Pikachu, this being what I'm hoping for.

They said upcoming games in 2018, so that could mean anything really. They'll probably save the bigger things or games releasing much later in 2018 for E3 though.

Outside of Detective Pikachu and maybe 1 Atlus title I don't think their are any other announced 3DS games. Theirs so little for the 3DS this year that I don't see them not announcing new games in a Direct thats focused on both Switch and 3DS tbh.

I want a port of tw101 and 3d world,if possible.Expect fire emblem,animal crossing and maybe smash port.

My dreams would include persona q2,link's awakening remake and metroid prime 4.

Mario Aces
Hyrule Warriors
Yoshi
Kirby

this will be the switch side
