Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Rumor: Metroid Prime 4 Developed By Bandai Namco/Star Wars 1313 Studio + Ridge Racer 8 Switch Exclusive

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtkP9vThLw4&feature=youtu.be

Apparently leaking from LinkedIn work profiles, this guy has according to ResetEra leaked things accurately in the past also:

Apparently this new Bandai-Namco team consists of a lot of former LucasArts employees who were working on Star Wars 1313 previously, and they're a talented bunch. Also apparently a former DeNA (Nintendo's mobile parnter) is the head of this studio ... looks like Nintendo and Namco-Bandai are getting very close.

Also Ace Combat for Playstation VR exclusive.

Ridge Racer 8 is Switch exclusive (guessing Nintendo ponied up the development costs).

Unannounced IP = Metroid.

Unannounced IP though. Possibly for hype reasons, but the other two games up there are announced and MP4 is already known to exist.

But we didnt know who the devs behind mp4 are.

MP4 is announced but Nintendo has not announced the developer themselves, so Bandai-Namco is not likely allowed to say. Probably not until E3 when Nintendo unveils the game in full. I think Nintendo does not want internet hysteria from blowing up with "why are you giving the franchise to Namco!" type stuff until they get to properly show off the game.

To be honest if the team working on the game is a lot of the Star Wars 1313 guys ... that could be a very good thing. Those guys seemed crazy talented.

Nintendo does have a habit in funding internal projects of other studios for any genre they might lack. It makes a lot of sense since it garantees exclusivity.

So why not fund Ridge racer 8 when they are already hiring Namco for another project?

A new arcade racer? Sign me the fuck up.
This gen has been dire in terms of that genre. Nothing good except Forza Horizon, and even that's not even fully arcadey.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Wasn't there a rumor a few months back that Bandai-Namco had three exclusives coming for Switch?

EDIT: Yep

As ever I take "leaks" with a truckload of salt, but if true, I might actually buy a Switch-exclusive Ridge Racer 8. There's a shortage of decent racing games these days. (As far as I'm concerned sims/realistic racers are more boring than watching paint dry in slow motion)

I wonder if the third exclusive is Tales.

Edit: assuming the rumor is true.

The more I think about this ... the more I actually believe it ...

I think it's misguided to think that Bandai is making the entirety of Prime 4, I don't even think they're the main devs, but the Ridge Racer part is actually the most credible to me. It's so weird and odd it makes sense. It's not some ultra nostalgia fanboy bullshit like saying "F-Zero!!!" or something obvertly obvious like Mario Part 11. It's just a very odd but specific choice.
