Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Netflix 'still exploring' Switch

https://www.polygon.com/2018/1/15/16893334/netflix-nintendo-switch-app-possible

Looks like Netflix may have been making demands Nintendo didn't want to meet or Nintendo wanted to make a deal with Hulu for a period.  Switch needed Netflix like yesterday, but I will say, I watch more Hulu now due to this.

The initial Tweet said:

“There are currently no plans for Netflix on Nintendo Switch.”

Then after inquiry:

“We are still exploring the opportunity with Nintendo, but don’t have definitive plans to share at this time,” the Netflix spokesperson told Polygon. The rep added that Netflix will send an update to that effect from @Netflixhelps; the company has since deleted the original tweet from yesterday, but you can see a screencap below.

Personally I feel like these things are largely irrelevant, it's a nice feature if you use those services sure but I don't think any console really "needs" netflix. I buy consoles for the games only, those added features never make a difference to me.

Like, I understand not wanting to clutter the system with media apps, but what could Netflix be demanding that Nintendo didn't want to honor? It's a media streaming app, it was on the Wii...Wii U... Switch should have gotten this earlier among other apps like Youtube. I do wonder if maybe Nintendo had issues with some code in Netflix's app that may be malign or something.

Just saying, Youtube and Netflix are 2 pieces of software that most devices these days should support early on. I appreciate Nintendo trying to sell the Switch as a game device first and foremost but when I see a game like Mujo or Vroom take spot on the eshop instead of basic media apps, I get confused.

Title sounds dirty xD. If Netflix can run on my cheap smart TV, then it should be running on the Switch.

Netflix is still "exploring" the Switch? Still?!?!

I feel like maybe we just need to set the mood a little better for these two. Maybe dim the lights, light a few candles, a nice red wine and maybe spin some Berry White records...

I'd only want Netflix on Switch if it supports downloads

Is there a more reputable source? Polygon is almost as cancerous as Kotaku, and I'd just rather not.

Meh to Netflix.

Nintendo should be trying to get the NBA, MLB and NFL apps on their system. Need my sport when at work lol.
