I think xbox1 could have sold 2 million for march and april, with out the holidays, i just remember there being an insane amount of hype for xb1 and ps4. I forgot xbone launched at 499$, so maybe not. but if switch was able to do 1.2 million in 2 months with shortages i believe a 399$ xb1/ps4 could have done 2 million  easily, i never seen so much pent up demand

XB1 had no stock issue in November 2013, and sold only 909k. Then in December it sold 908k. You are telling me XB1 would have sold more in March/April than in November/December.

Now i'll tell you what would have happen if XB1 was released in March:

It would have sold less than in November. Probabily 700/800k. April would have been a big drop compared to March, while December was a flat month, it probabily would have sold barely 200/250k, and then starting to do XB1 usual numbers in 2014 (XB1 was selling 100-150k in 2014 withouth any important release)

You are seriusly saying it would have sold more, but in reality Switch would have eaten XB1 alive in this comparation if XB1 launched in March.

xbox one was sold out during the holidays just google, but yea at 499$ your probably right. i thought it launched at 399$.

Found this video while browsing Youtube, I thought it might me commending Nintendo for doing well... turns out some people are not so happy about Nintendo's success...

What ever happened to appreciating a company offering something novel and refreshing?

I reckon that the ps4 was the one sold out during holiday 2013, that's why 2nd week was awful, it did 98k on 2nd week after 1st week of 1million+.

I can't remember xbox one been sold out for that time period.

Xbox One was getting discounted as early as March 2014 (~4 months after launch), its safe to say its shortages were pretty minimal.

Nintendo success is an inside job.

I don't think you realize that XB1 was at 6.19 million units after TWO HOLIDAYS, in 14 months.

Switch is at >4.8 million in only 10 months, with one holiday.

In 14 months, Switch is gonna be at the same level of XB1, IF NOT HIGHER.

Still 4 months to go, January/April Switch is gonna sell in the 250K range, February/March will probabily be in the 450k range, this would put Switch at over 6.2 million, and would be still higher than XB1.

With ONE holiday VS TWO holiday.

And you are saying that if XB1 launched in march it could have outsold Switch? BY A GOOD MARGIN?

Dude. Wake up.

again one full holiday vs launch holiday. launch holidays again are not real holidays because product is almost all sold out due to  launch demand,

No, If Nintendo launched the Switch during holiday season they would have prepared more units to face a launch + holiday season. You have to be retarded to think Sony launched the PS4 preparing for only 200k sales a week after the launch. Y'all were so quick to compare the PS4 to the Switch but now its not possible cause it wasn't a real holiday ?

We could also talk about Sony launching the PS4 later in japan to avoid stock issues in US/Eu during holiday season and also to not have issues in Japan. But still the console managed to flop few weeks after launch in Japan and it got a boost during the holiday season. First holidays is never groundbreaking anyway. Switch has no amazing bundles/prices/stock so its down to the same.

IDK yet lol. 2018 is when will i will be convinced.

There is hope for you. It's a New Year's miracle!

US only? I wonder what the fastest selling global consoles are and their numbers.

So based on these numbers it will sell less than the GBA at ~40m but more than the Wii at ~45m. Either way it will probably outsell the PS4 in US and Japan at this rate.

Switch outselling the PS4 in Japan was pretty much confirmed since it was announced it was a handheld. US though, I wouldn't bet on that, but we'll see.

By US and Japan, I pretty much mean only those countries as Sony has a lock on most European countries and Nintendo has little presence in smaller countries.

I think Switch is more popular in Canada and South Korea. There may be a few other, admittedly small markets but yeah that's possibly it. There is a slim possibility it may have a fighting chance in France, its most popular European country. Or i guess it could catch on in China and/or India.
