“After careful consideration, we decided to stop manufacturing the Xbox Kinect Adapter to focus attention on launching new, higher fan-requested gaming accessories across Xbox One and Windows 10,” a Microsoft spokesperson said in a statement to Polygon. As for any plans to bring back the item in the future, the representative declined to discuss Microsoft’s product roadmap, but said the adapter “will no longer be available.”

I still have my free one connected to XBO X. I guess I'm still hanging on to the dream. My smart TV can pretty much do all of the voice commands my Kinect does. I don't really use the camera that much.

I guess technology just caught up with Microsoft's pack in device. Now, it's obsolete. Even now, I still think that if M$ dabbled in VR for the Xbox One X, the Kinect would be the best interface. Oh well...

Part of this thing's functionality was a creepy as fuck ability to always watch and listen to everybody that had it hooked up. We are richer for having lost it.

end of an Era really, I enjoyed a lot of what Kinect offered on the original X360 I hated that it was bundled with the X1 and came at a huge cost to the base gaming abilitys of the system.

Well, at least the Kinect technology is being used for the iPhone X. Kinda crazy to think that Kinect was way more successful than the Move initially, but in the end, the Move is still going (though Sony should really improve the tech for better VR controls).

Meh, I didn't like it at first, but I still have it set up. I wanted one of those free adapters but I guess I missed the boat.

It's interesting though how this product tanked and was depicted as a spy box but things like the Echo are welcome in many homes nowadays.

OT: Doesn't surprise me, don't know why they didn't include the port to begin with so the few that use Kinect could upgrade to the X or S and do not have to worry about that. Seems like MS really does love to sell us additional adapters (well when it's bringing in enough profit). RIP Kinect and the 99% shovelware library it had.

Damn i should probably get one before they sell out.
