This is not true. February and March are bigger than September and October.

February in particular is the biggest non holiday month of the year. It happen that some times September or October are bigger, but only because the release of some games, however, in a month withouth nothng special, February is way bigger than every others months, even if is only 4 weeks sales are still bigger than any others months.

March is second, and September third.

i was talking about January.  like i said september, and october for switch should have had small boost due to stock issue, and mario for switch then other regular months, but nothing indicates wii like sales on regular months on npd.

sorry i thought you said that Sep/Oct were bigger than Feb/Mar. Yes they are definitively bigger than January.

so what makes you think 250-300k for January? i see no reason it should be that high.

Okay, I know I'm going a bit off topic but this is really interesting. I went back to last gen to see what PS3/360 were selling in January and was surprised.

PS3
2007: 244,000
2008: 269,000
2009: 203,000
2010: 277,000
2011: 267,000
2012: 161,000
2013: 210,000

X360
2006: 250,000
2007: 294,000
2008: 230,000
2009: 309,000
2010: 333,000
2011: 381,000
2012: 270,000
2013: 281,000

January used to be a really good sales month, 3DS/PS4/XB1 have been disappointments.

I'm not too surprised. January is still close enough to the holidays, so some presents you could get/gift a little late, or buying a system from leftover cash could happen. You can clearly see that in Japan during week 1 of the year, specially this year.

But yeah, gen 8 was oddly low in January.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

It will happen ;)

I believe the demand is that high.

Since initial Switch reveal I predicted a Wii-esque type of success, even when people were bitching about price and power. I think Switch will do some damage in 2018.

lol there is no indication it will happen, september, and october are way bigger months along with  small pent up demand due to stock issues, october also had Mario launch. January will be 180-220k .

Maybe so.

The way I see it though is that Switch will see a much less drop off from Dec to Jan than PS4 and XB1. There are two main reasons that I believe will cause this. The Switch is the in demand console right now and Nintendo ran zero hardware pricecuts over the holiday. Xbox One and, too a lesser degree, PS4 will see a bigger drop as promotions end.

3ds had no promotions during the holidays, it did 1.650, which is higher by 200k then switch by all accounts , and went on to do 172k in January

I didn't expect the Xbox One X to be in contention with the PS4 or Switch globally but I'm pleased that it's proven to be more than a niche product for the "premium gamer".

It's odd how the Switch isn't performing as well in Europe though.

The One X hasn't proven that it's more than a niche product, yet. Jan/Feb will be better for determining that.

Well we shall see, but it's looking good so far with the PUBG player numbers and the simple fact that it's selling far surpassed it's estimates.

Switch Europe performance:

UK - meh
Germany - very good
France - Awesome
Spain - very good
Italy - very good

Yeah sorry, I meant the UK not Europe. I had a brain fart moment 😁 I can't comment too much for Europe as I live in the UK, but we are a huge gaming nation and it has surprised me a little that we've not embraced the Switch as much as the rest of the world it seems. :)

Actually, the Jan positions, thus far, peg it as just that. Niche. Nothing wrong with that, considering its price and purpose, but I’d keep those expectations in check.

It was always meant to be "niche" though with its superior hardware and higher price point. It will never appeal to the mainstream 'casual'/family masses, but it is still selling higher than expected though. :)

It's still a niche product, is my point.  :)

So how much do we get to make fun of you if this person ends up being Thunder77/Zero99?

I believe infinite Gohan gifs will be in order.

And I've already agreed with you, but it's sales figures put it way above expected.
