Forums - Nintendo Discussion - 1st Party Core Wii Titles. Your Take.

Why only 1st party? There are actually quite a few good 3rd party games on Wii.

Contrary to the belief of some, the Wii was a hardcore system when you account for both 1st and 3rd party quality games.  I'm only concentrating on the 1st parties for now partially for the nostalgia of the older more classic Nintendo characters and also to make sure that my resources are spend on those titles first.

I think most of the first-party titles I'd recommend have been mentioned, so I'll throw a few third-party suggestions in since there were a lot of truly unique games that deserve more love:

MadWorld
Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon (a bit rough around the edges, but really moving)
A Boy and His Blob (I mean come on, it has a hug button!)
Muramasa

Have the ones bolded.

A Boy and His Blob = Need.

Haven't seen Super Paper Mario mentioned (or I missed it somewhere, apologies if so). Good game, worth a look

I don't know if you care for rail shooters, but "House of the Dead: Overkill", "Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles/Darkside Chronicles", "Dead Space: Extraction", and "Sin and Punishment: Star Successor" are all top notch.

Actually, I love rail shooters.  But I'm not an RE fan, and I have the PS3 version of Extraction.  Besides, I want to share these games with my daughter.  Anything involving horror is out of the picture.

As a proud owner of all of those all I can say is yes.

So does that mean all M rated games are out of the question?

Nope.  She's watch me played parts of Skyrim and Wolfenstein.

Ah, alrighty.

Well, if/when you decide to move on to third party Wii titles, I'd recommend:

- Monster Hunter Tri

- Goldeneye 007

- de Blob

- de Blob 2

- Little King's Story

- Red Steel 2

- Tatsunoko vs Capcom

- No More Heroes*

- No More Heroes 2*

*Not horror, but also probably not suited for kids, lots of profanity and sexual references
