Can XB1 Catch Up With PS4 In The US?

Yes

Just a simple question. According to VGC (as of 19th August 2017), the PS4 leads by 2.5 million units and probably sits at around 3 million right now. Is it possible for the XB1 to catch the PS4 in the US?

No. How would it do that?

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

Well, 1 person has said yes and another has said maybe, so that question is best addressed to them. Don't forget this includes X1X too which is just a better model of the XB1, as the Pro is just a better model of the PS4. I've hit 'NO' just for clarification.

Now I regret that I didn't put in a troll vote this time.

I brought this up in another thread and was hammered, ridiculed, and was called "Drill" ( I don't know what that is).  Good luck with this.  I don't even own an Xbox One yet and was treated as a fan boy of this system.

"Can" is an interesting word.

They "could" in theory. That would require going against practices they've shown for the last 4 years though.
Specially hard now that every game is also coming to the PC.

When you are behind in console sales, giving people reasons to NOT buy your console will not help you catch up.

How?

I mean remotely within the realms of reality?

They're behind by a huge gap. They're selling less each week. They're competing with a break away success that isn't slowing down.

I did say could, not will.  They are Microsoft after all.  Drop the price of all consoles by $200.  Discount all games by $10.

Announcing a bunch of studios being opened.  And while that is in work go make a bunch of sequels.

All that and I think they could make a come back by say 2020. In the us only though.

The Xbox division has shown nothing in the nearby future that could create any sort of momentum that will propel the Xbox One's sales passed the PlayStation 4.
The Xbox One X will give the Xbox One a temporary boost, however, due to the lack of any exclusive content, there will be nothing to maintain that initial boost in sales. The Xbox One X sales will be incredibly front loaded. It will quickly even out to the same overall sales we are seeing for the console, albeit with the potential for an even bigger drop off sometime in the near future.
