Most NFL games do start around lunch (1 PM), it's very likely there will be NFL games going head to head with the World Cup. That's the reason Fox (who own the TV rights for the World Cup and the NFL) was so angry.

Would I be right to assume that's only weekends though?

But eh, can't really feel sympathy for fox over that. For one thing they shouldn't have bought the rights if they weren't sure where/when/what it would be for. Plus they run fox news so...

It is only during weekends, but a reason why the World Cup gains so many viewers in the USA is because many sports fans who don't have much else to watch decide to watch the World Cup. In November, during the NFL and NBA seasons, most sports fans attentions are elsewhere.

Obviously this is really only a problem in North America, as the ratings will be very high in Europe.

Isn't this kind of nationalism of "respecting the flag" and "respecting the leader" more akin to a dictatorship than a real democracy? Looks like the US is even importing their nationalism from Asia.

they're not breaking any rules, it's their right to protest. they're just excising their rights and silently protesting.

I remember people got angry when some girl pissed on the flag. Getting riled up over petty shit like this never ends well. The Alien and Sedation Acts of 1798 were passed just because John Adams got his precious feelings hurt. Never give too much power to a singular object or an endless tirade of bitching will ensue.

Now, on to the issue at hand. If someone wants to protest, let them protest. If you support this stuff, fine. If you don't, fine. I personally don't give a fuck. There's a lot more important things to focus on right now than a person kneeling during a song imo.

Are you trying to tell us there are actually people lying down during a song?

What is this even.. How can you be this stupid? None of these pictures have a FLAG in it. US flag colors =/= US flag.

I do agree the picture of 10.176l shows a violation. But you are fucking beyond dumb, you are the reason fake news exists, believing STUPID allegations without taking a second to LOOK into it.

Edit: I forgot to mention 10.176c. That would not really work for a flag this size, but I would need to see how it was actually moved and also need a more in depth interpretation of the wording. It's hard to conceive how making a big ass flag could be disrespectful, as it is hard to move it in other way. That is a very specific case.

Please take a deep breath and calmly evaluate what I am about to say.

The code of conduct quoted in the OP looks to me like it specifically encompasses IMAGES of the flag, and is not restricted to something that goes up a flagpole being taken down and worn as a shirt.  As evidence, consider the following quote:
"It should not be ... impressed on paper napkins or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard."

Do you still stand by your earlier position, or did this change your mind?  If you stand by it, please explain how a literal flag would be "impressed on paper napkins".

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

You said there are more important things than people kneeling to a song. So I asked if you know something about the very few things that could be more important than that. For example lying down to a song or, god forbid, making a hand stand to a song.
