I'm not going for another form of a cheap cop out either.

You think it's fine for a AAA studio, bigger than an indie one, with it's own engine, si fine in taking what it can from the indie under it's wing, I don't.

This kind of thing doesn't sit well within the art industry and at times (yes, it does) it doesn't within the games industry (like it or not).

Disagreeing with you is a cheap cop out?  Come on now.

AAA studio or indie makes no difference to me. I disapprove of blatantly copying a game or its assets (like Limbo of the Lost copying Oblivon, or Legend of the Titan being a cheap Chinese rip-off from Overwatch). Fortnite adapting PUBG's game mode is more akin to Crash Team Kart Racing being a nod to Mario Kart to me. Is it original? No. But who cares? If a genre is succesful, other devs will make their own versions of it. Can't see anything wrong with it.

It seems Blueholes main gripes are the use of PUBG in marketing the Fortnite BR, and there are a couple deeper seeded, potentially shady aspects from their point of view. There was a company rumored to be trying to buy Bluehole earlier this year. Turns out Epic owns a very large share of that company, like almost 50%. Also, Bluehole worked with Epic with UE4 to allow games like PUBG. So Epic literally took Bluehole's work with UE4 and made a carbon copy clone of their game. Easy to see why Bluehole would feel a little ribbed by it. Your example would be more applicable if Naughty Dog were working with Nintendo to make changes to a Nintendo game engine and then Naughty Dog released CTR, and then later Nintendo released Mario Kart.

I mean, in every entertainment industry you have people copying one another. This is a pretty blatant copy though. This is like.. Paladins vs Overwatch levels of copying a game. I was shocked when I bought the Paladins Founders Pack that someone was legally able to pull that off, it's literally Overwatch with a small unique twist in the power up system in game. Fortnite BR is a straight up ripoff of PUBG with the small unique twist of building stuff.

But yeah, those deeper issues for Bluehole, it's easy to see why a small studio would take offense to that.

I can't believe people are defending bluehole here.........like smh. Games take ideas from other games all the time....... you don't see people every open-world game a gta 3 clone..... and isn't mentioning battlegrounds in fortnite or a good thing? They admitted that this mode took inspiration from battlegrounds, which was a ballsy thing to say..... Even if they "ripped them off", how does this affect the userbase and popularity of pubg in any way? If this was activision coming out with a $60 dollar AAA version of battle royale, then this claim would be justified.....but this is Epic Games Fortnite, a relatively small game. It won't even make a little dent in pubg sales.

(Before I'm called a "PUBG hater", you should know that I love the game to bits, and it's one of my favourite games this generation)

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

I mean PUBG isn't even the first game to do battle royale type modes, so I'm not really sure why they're crying.

I agree they shouldn't be crying. But for some context, PlayerUnknown was the maker of the DayZ mod for Arma and also worked on H1Z1. So he's ripping himself off if we look at it that way.

ARK survival of the fittest did what PUBG did but way before, so not sure what they are complaining about

It's not hard to see why, but at the same time you have that other crowd that sees them as "crying" and why no one should care. This is all it takes for the excuses to build up, meaning Epic will have to be as blatantly obvious as EA to get people to notice in what is going on.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

If its a copy and paste job than i understand the issue. However the genre is not theres plus Fortnite seems nothing close to PUBG.
