Forums - Website Topics - Has it ever been worse on Vgchartz before?

The hardware charts are now 2 months behind as of today. The software charts are pretty bad too. I read in another thread that the two guys that update the charts are being held back by a guy named Brett. The site owner, I think. I talked to a nice guy that goes by Machina. Apparently only Brett can provide the data or fix technical problems. The questions are: Where is he? Does he care at all?

Two more questions: Are the "supporters" people that pay to support this site? Have the charts ever been worse than this? If supporters pay and and all the ads are paying, what is the excuse for this? I am relatively new here compared to some of you guys; I've been a member for over a year. The updates were kinda behind over the last year, but not this bad.

Now if Brett is sick or had a tragedy I certainly understand, but I wish the staff would be more open and talkative about these problems. I created the fun poll contest to help entertain you guys (and  give myself something to do) while no hardware charts were being updated.

Every night that I work, I come home from work and am tired as I work in the hot Georgia heat. One of the first things I do to wind down and relax, is check the charts, since it is fun for me to watch the console war unfold. Sales excite me, like many of you that came here. I will even refresh the page over and over (I know, silly) hoping that the numbers will update. We are not the majority. Most don't care about sales much. But we have that common bond. It's a bond that's being hurt.

Some of us have been

In truth, Machina, Trunks, and Trucks are really busy guys that do all they can to keep things going, particularly behind-the-scenes. My advice would just be to continue being patient. The numbers will come.

I believe you. Like I said, I talked to Machina, and he assured me that he cares. He explained that it's Brett that isn't doing his part.

I wasn't like that back in 2009 when I joined. I don't remember when it started to become like this.

Why is Brett the only one that provides the Data? Has he given permission to others to do it?

It has been worse. Brett has lost interest in this site a few years ago. He used to update charts quickly and on a regular schedule, he participated in the forums as well. Some years ago he tried to get new site off the ground (Gamewise) and then chart updates on VGC began to lag behind and it got increasingly worse. That was basically the lowest point for the site, but things improved when he allowed Machina and Trunks limited access to chart updates. Said limited access still requires that Brett does certain things (currently adjustments to old sales are necessary), but such requests take time until they are fulfilled because Brett only has a low interest in VGC left.

Supporters donate money to this website and receive a few perks in exchange. You can look up the information under the tabs Members/Supporter Program at the top of the page.

OK, thanks I will check that out. He used to talk in the forums? What would cause him to want to all but abandon his own site?

Apparently only limited permission was handed down to others.

The horrible thing that happened to Brett a few years ago is that he became persuaded of the existence of legendary and terrible beings every gamer talks about, but none actually saw a real one: women.
Oh, before someone mentions moms, no that doesn't count, as gamers hatch form eggs.

Yeah I used to check for the sales updates every week and now I'm not even bothered by it anymore it's been over 2 years since hardware numbers were updates on a consistent basis. I even got to make an April Fools thread about new hardware numbers which worked well because we were all starved.

As I mentioned on previous updates we're all basically here for the community but new members aren't going to be drawn to this site without the numbers, activity has slowed down substantially in the past couple of years.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

I'd personally say that the NX speculation time was worse. We got so many of those threads, I got sick of them.

Do anyone ven come here anymore for the numbers? been years since they got updated regurarly.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Brett should turn over everything to the admins that still care about VGChartz. Withholding said restricted privileges only hurts this site and is downright unacceptable, even though I don't know the motivations behind it, I consider it myself a selfish move. We used to be something before. We used to be cited. Being two months behind cannot be the new standard now.

And more people should be able to update the charts so it can catch up. Industry is moving fast, and we will fade into oblivion if this isn't addressed soon.

Nah it really dipped last Xmas, before that it was pretty regular only ever two weeks behind. Then the owner lost interest. It's still the best website for keeping up to date with game news and sales and stuff imo
