Forums - Gaming Discussion - Exclusive Commentary: Why is it that only MS and Sony are focused on?

KrspaceT said:

I occasionally look for video topics on youtube trying to find new subscribe channesl, and whenever I look at commentary on console exclusive pros and cons and rants and the like, I've noticed that 90% of the time it's a constant commentary of Halo vs Uncharted.

Sony and X-box

Any reason why Nintendo isn't brought up, given that when it comes to commentary on exclusives Nintendo is a good example of both 'they sell games' and 'they aren't avaliable to everyone and are gated off' arguments? Is it just to avoid Nintendo copyright claims, or do they just not get brought up for another reason?

it's easy

Xbox and PS are always very close in performance and hence get pretty much all the 3rd party games, so the majority of long-time gamers decide their primary (or only) console between these 2

the main ways to decide which one to get is by looking at price, performance in multiplats and ofcourse the "exclusive" games you wouldn't be able to play on the other

the last gens Nintendo consoles didn't have this vast 3rd party catalogue, so they are not part of this decision making process

Yeah, I think you're wrong. Although I did see both main protaganists on lists for the "hottest female lead in a video game".

Wut? I thought Zelda was a dood? :O

Link is still a hotter female lead than Aloy.

Just copyright. You can't make dem sweet YouTube moneyz with Nintendo stuff and nowadays it's all about money on YouTube.

Pretty much. It's Nintendo's fault/decision why there's hardly any gaming youtubers covering their stuff.

Actually, you'd be surprised how many channels there are that cover Nintendo and more than just game news. Nintendo works with some of them too, giving them review copies of games, letting them interview staff, and collabing with some of them.

Nintendo has made it quite clear that they don't want people making youtube videos about them. So everyone obliges.

There might be some but I doubt I would surprised by how many they are. Especially in comparison to how many cover PS, MS and PC games. Nintendo has a bug up it's ass when it comes to youtubers and their games for some stupid reason.

Too bad we don't exactly how much to compare for each console.

What numbers are you expecting? I only follow some of them, but there are other channels I check in from time to time just to hear some news or discussions about Nintendo, and that's just from recommendations I get. As for how many channels cover Sony and MS, I don't really have a clue.

Same reasons people don't talk about PC exclusive games, they sell to their audince and are separate from the rest of the industry.

Alot. Ever since that ad demonetization of political vids, alot of the youtubers who cover that stuff are starting to branch out from that type of content or forced to use more patreon or superchat donations to supplement their income. So it makes sense that youtubers go where the money is so to speak. I'm sure that there's alot of youtubers who would cover new releases from nintendo if nintendo would allow them to monetize their vids.
