Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy VII Remake further along than KH3 in some areas.

I'm just baffled how dumb Square can be with their money. They spent millions making the Luminous Engine...and have only used it for 1 game. Everything else from DQ to KH and this..Unreal 4. yes UE4 is great but they spent all that money and now just don't use it. Is there anything else using it?

Square is pretty much the very definition of development hell. Just about any project from this company is a friggin' mess.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

All indications from what little we've heard is that the Luminous Engine, while technically impressive in its potential, is a giant pain in the ass to work with.  I think it is safe to say they've grown to hate that engine.

Doesn't surprise m,just once again Square shows they don't know how to spend money wisely.

I still doubt any of them are going to arrive before 2020.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

.... what? Why are they comparing the 2? Why are they even talking? Stop messing about coming up with excuses to why you can't make the games and make the games. If we wait until 2022, then so be it. We would have lost interest by then but still...

Hmm, pie.

If everything goes well.

We joke but it struck me that I'll be close to my 40s by the time of these games come out.

... a near 40 year old play KH3? What if they include something like the Little Mermaid world stuff from KH2 again?

Hmm, pie.

lol..."like cutscenes" that's hardly impressive compared to the work that needs to be done on the entire game. Cutscenes are probably the easiest thing to do in today's gaming industry as long as you have the funds and can find a studio to produce it for you. We all know FFVII Part 1 is 2019 at the earliest, 2020 is more like it, if it has to be on PS5 as well, we're looking holiday 2020 going into winter-spring 2021.

Not to mention the fact htat FF7 is a remake, so same story, same cutscenes, ect. Not hard to "direct" a cutscene and make it when you have the groundwork already done.

Plus cutscenes mean jack shit. Look at FF15 through the years. You could make an entire movie of cutscenes that never made it into the game because of how much the game changed from its inception. So many of those "cutscenes" that are further along may be cut.
