Forums - Gaming Discussion - Microsoft is deserving of praise, not criticism, for XBox 1 not having many exclusives

Yeah play anywhere is pretty great. When I don't feel like using my xbox one or someone else is using it I can just play a game on my PC.

Here's a question since we are sorta on topic. How many people on vgc even have a gaming PC? Cause Forza horizon 3 isn't exactly gonna run on a toaster even on low settings...

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Oh no. it's great that MS is putting their games on PC. It's just, is it great for Xbox One? I mean, in the end, the message is "you don't need our box to play our games". The only downside is they still haven't made 360 b/c available for Win 10. The upside, starting with no Live needed to play, is, well, everything else.

I imagine some will pipe up on owning a really old lappy or two as well as an old pre-built desktop from 5 years ago. Only a few on here have custom built rigs from the past 4-5 years.

I think there are only 5 of us here that own anything above a 980 let alone a 1080.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

I like the xbox as a companion console but its not much more than that. If the games where exclusive I would have had to get an xbox earlier for forza horizon 3 and gears 4 those games are just long-lasting and amazing games to play.

Anyway, I like the direction Microsoft is going with play anywhere. very pro consumer and it gives options on how you want to play games.

My problem with this site is this:

Someone says PCs are a great place to play games... Response from people "PCs are way too expensive"

Someone says the xbox one x is great... Response from people "Neh, I can just play xbox exclusives on my PC"

It's like... You do realize games like Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4 need decent/good PCs to even play them on low settings right? PCs are known to be very scalable yes but there is still a minimum...

Ik that not everyone says it but it urks me when some people are just urghh

They might deserve praise for making them available on PC as well, yet they don't deserve praise for not having many multi plat exclusives (or what's the word today, play anywhere exclusives?) in total. What is MS adding to the industry besides more ways to charge for games.

The only thing I'm really interested in is Forza, which won't run on my laptop and that alone is not enough to buy another console for. Plus VR has come along to raise the bar. MS could have had me back with focus on VR for XBox One X. Maybe next year.

Good for the consumer.... they can avoid buying a Xbox One, and use their PC instead.

I often come across the complaint that many XBox 1 games that would have otherwise been exclusives are also put on PC thus rendering them non-exclusives and I'm wondering why people complain?

Does a game being available on more than one platform not make it more readily available to people thus benefiting the consumer? Is the abilty to play a game on more than one configuration not a good thing? PS4 and Switch exclusives can only be played on their respective platforms but with XBox1/PC, you have more choice.

Online gaming on PC is free last I checked so you don't even need to pay a subscription fee to play these games online. Microsoft undermines their own efforts to charge for online multiplayer by making their otherwise-XBox 1 exclusive games also available on PC.

Already got a gaming PC? Great! No need to buy an XBox 1 and we the consumers win but I cannot recall any time wherein Microsoft has received rightful praise for their pro-consumer policy of making their software available on XBox 1 AND PC rather than just locking their software to one box.

What's the deal with people complaining instead of praising?

Well let's put it this way. If you're someone who bought an Xbox One on launch day for $500 and it turns out that you could have simply played those games on a PC that may have already had, it would make your Xbox feel like a huge paper weight. Remember that Microsoft did not start this whole cross platform thing until quite sometime after Xbox One's launch.
