Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo: it will make “significantly more units” of the SNES Classic than the NES Mini

anyone has extra pre-orders for SNES mini classic for Europe? I wanted that one, but when I wanted to order it ain't available. Tried at game.co.uk at first since amazon uk didn't show any. But when I try to fix my address at home, game.co.uk became unavailable. Then I saw my FB wall that amazon uk has it. but already gone. :(

hopefully they'll restock soon.

I expect it to outsell every console in September. ^^

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

What the heck is Nintendo doing with these? They act like it takes a ton of time and effort away from the Switch to keep making these. I know these things wouldn't sell forever, but I think 10M would be a doable goal. Instead of releasing only 2M of the NES and, I guess, 3M-4M of the SNES.

Personally, I'm not interested in getting these with so few available, so scalpers get them to sell for 2x-3x the price, and with only 21/30 games. I think 50 games would be a much better number. Still, I know a lot of people are interested in them and it sucks they have to pay scalper prices.

Why would you announce that this thing is ONLY going to be available for this calendar year right away? Even if they do provide say 5x or even 10x the units that they did with the NES Classic, that's still going to drive scalpers to snatch them up right away.

They should make these available at least through the 1st half of 2018 so that anyone who misses out on it during the holidays still can get one.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I figure they still won't be able to reach the demand. I think this thing could sell possibly a mil worldwide.

It'll sell a lot more than that if they have the supply.  The NES Classic sold 2.3M.  I think 10M should be doable.  And it would at least cut down on scalpers, too.

Did it really? I thought it sold a few hundred thousands of units. I didn't hear about it hitting a mil worldwide.

I think 10 mil SNES units would be a bit of overkill.

It might be, but like I said, at least you wouldn't have scalpers charging crazy prices because they bought them all.  Plus, I think it would eventually hit 10M, even if it took a year or two.

I dunno, I think 3-4 mil would be a good start.

They should produce at least 4 million. To be honest they could bring back the NES Mini this holiday and kill it again with that too.

Nintendo doesn't understand how much the NES and SNES in particular (N64 too) mean to a certain generation of people. It's almost an emotional reaction.
