Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy 14 Director Wants Switch And Xbox One Version, But Has One Condition

Sounds good to me. That way, combined with other platforms, it wouldn't matter if the game sold poorly on Nintendo (for example). You'd still have others to play with. Heck, a lower entry cost could be seen as a plus for the Switch version.

You guys are missing the point. This article is trying to make a spin on something that just isn't there.

The fact of the matter is, Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida has been with talks with MS many times every year trying to convince MS to open their servers for cross play. Some of these conditions includes not making FFXIV players on Xbone pay for 2 subscriptions.

Personally, I don't want FFXIV on Switch. It'll be like another PS3 bottleneck for everyone.

Motherboard: MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 32GB DDR5

Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5

I don't think this game will ever be on the switch even with cross play with Sony. they stop support for ps3 because it limits the pc and ps4 version.

The primary problem with the PS3 version was RAM, which was limiting even basic stuff like the inventory system. If they can get 2.0 and 3.0 to just about work on a PS3's 256MB of ram (+256MB of VRAM), getting the Switch to run 4.0+ on 4GB should be a cake walk. It's already doable on PC.

A Switch version would require graphical downgrades (and likley relativity heavy character rendering limits because of its CPU), but i doubt it'd limit the PS4 and PC versions in any meaningful capacity. Things might be different if FF14 was a brand new game, but its PS3 baseline roots are permanent at this point. They can make improvements (and have with the latest expansion), but they're unlikely to ever progress the game's core technology past the point of being workable on the Switch.

Well, I don't think that'll be a problem with Nintendo, seeing what their recent stance on the topic is. Though, now I'm starting to question if Sony would be willing to do it. Perhaps MS and Nintendo would be okay crossing with each other instead, PC included.

Clearly the question should have been asked at sony since they denied cross playing the last few times

So yall just gonna forget all the times Yoshida said who the problem for this was because selective memory is convenient. Not referring to Switch because that didn't announced/wasn't released yet.

Also, Yoshida would release FF XIV on Atari 2600 if he was able to do it. lol

The number of people coming in here saying Don't won't allow Cross play when it currently has Cross play with PC is interesting.

lol that would not be a problem MS is a supporter of cross-play.

lmao If that was the case, the 360 would of had the game on it......
