Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Titanfall 2 Dev: Titanfall 2 Renders up to 6K on the Xbox One X

"When it comes to X1X it means there are times it'll render at higher than 4K and then downsample to whatever resolution the X1X is outputting to. Its is truly glorious on a 4K display. This quote will come back to haunt me, I'm sure, but there were times on Wargames last time I was testing where it was rendering at ~3200p (6K?) internally. The internal render resolution is dictated by the GPU load, so obviously there are no guarantees as to how often it renders at particular resolutions, but essentially we're using 100% GPU all the time."

That seems.... wastefull.
Navtive 4k and push FPS if theres more breathing room.

It already runs 60fps on regular xbox so i expect the same for this port. If it can run up to 6k using 100% of the GPU power then im sure it can do native 4K. I hope DF does a comparison would like to see what else they changed.

Congratulation, you invented super sampling.

Gotta love Dynamic Rez

Makes sense actually the ps4 pro had no problem on 4k dynamic, sure the game usually dropped but you can put the upper limit as crazy as you want.

Basically when you look at the sky, floor or are inside with nothing happening it would be 6k and when things start to happen it would drop, titanfall 2 isn't a very intensive game on ps4 pro I think the lowest drop was 1440p from many analysts combined but it was almost always running on 1800p.

Add the 40% GPU overhead and extra memory bandwith and native 4k should be easy so 6k isnt a bad idea as the "upper limit" but it will never be 6k in heavy firefights, don't worry :P

not wasteful at all it will most likely run on 4k or above at all times but if they mess to much with the settings it won't actually be garanteed 4k most games have overheads and the developer then makes compromised and locks the settings below what the capabilities are to maintain a locked 30 or 60 fps during the more stressed out situations, dynamic resolution actually provides a boost in performance that would go to waste otherwise.

Are we still playing titanfall 2? I haven't played it since upgrading to my GTX 1080 Ti FTW3... Should I re-download?
