Playstation 2 -- just boring and clearly lacked the same creativity that Nintendo and Sega put into their console's names

Wii U -- Wii is stupid and the U doesn't make sense and it sounds like a siren

Xbox One S/X -- It's gonna be so hard to differentiate these two when talking to a layperson.

New 3DS -- Why does it need to be "new", why not 'Super'

PS Vita -- Doesn't really deserve to be on the list, it's just ironic.

Xbox 360, not willing to put an Xbox 2 against a PlayStation 3, Microsoft decided to go with a MUCH bigger number with a 3 in it. Xtreme Box three hundred and sixty!

Xbox One, they out pretentioused themselves with this one. The community has since began referring to it colloquially as the XBone.

Wii U was a weird one too. The Wii was weird enough, but it became a household name in the months before the launch of the console. Wii U always sounded strange, like an old tugboat horn.

GameCube sounds like a child's toy, and it didn't help that it also looked like one.

This is for worst not best. Dreamcast is the best name ever. Seriously.

 

Also Xbox was named after Direct X. X is not pretentious. Look up the word pretentious. X was used in everything in the late 90s to early 2000s. It was XTREEEEEEEEEEME. That's also how Extreme was spelled then. They were trying to be cool/edgy.

There have been some very poor names throughout history but Apple Pippin has to be one of the worst ever.

 

I understand some people on here may be too young to know that console existed but that name is absolutely trash. It is worse than Wii and worse than Wii U.

 

However, the worst ever is Virtual Boy. I mean, nobody in their right mind would dare ever say in public, "I want to play with my Virtual Boy." That name rings of pedo activity and for that reason alone, it takes the cake as the worst name ever.
