Forums - Politics Discussion - Global Warming is a Hoax by Lord Christopher Monckton

See, like I said in the other thread. Christian mentality.

I'd disagree with that. Major faith leaders and many Christians believe that climate change is an ecological and moral crisis, this is a political mentality.

Curse those scientists and their obsession with facts and objectivity. I feel Global Warming is fake and my feelings should be taken into account!

I wish that you were joking, but I've seen enough of your posts to know that unfortunately, you're being serious.

No, he's not. Unless his whole account is meant to be a gimmick.

Many Christians in the American south believe it's a hoax.  However, it's interesting to look at the different strands of politics with them.  Do they believe it's a hoax because they are Christian or because it's what many Republican leaders tell them?  They tend to go all-in on politics and believe everything they hear from the side they've chosen even without understanding the arguments.

As an example, I once had an old man who would hang out at the place I worked tell me that rich people needed a tax cut.  He was probably living from one social security check to the next but the two things he trusted most were his god and his Fox News (he might have considered Fox News to be the Holy Spirit aspect of the trinity, I'm not sure).

What would happen if Republican leaders suddenly said climate change is true?  It would be very interesting.

Scientists, economics, mathematics damn them all because feelings are the path to enlightenment. The light shall shine on those who follow the reason of their feelings instead of the cold and dark numbers. Those wretched creatures that call themselves scientists provide numbers as truth, but as long as you shall trust and have faith in your feelings the scientists will never be victorious. So accept these completely unreasonable and ungrounded feelings and start your path to enlightenment.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

If it truly was as important an issue as they claim. Their deals would actually DO something.

Frankly it's arguing religion with these people. They claim that people whom they know nothing about all agree on something and by faith they must accept it. The Church of Self Importance and Righteous Indignation.

Climate change is a fact on any planet with an active molten core and/or a gaseous or aqueous atmosphere. Planet Earth has had huge global warms and ice ages before with temperature swings greater than predicted now.
Humans are burning stuff to increase greenhouse effect but other organisms and volcanoes have done it in the past. With sometimes much more drastic and rapid effect. Nothing new.
Northern Canada used to be a sub-tropical rainforest, theres an ancient forest beneath a kilometre of ice in Antarctica.
Heck look up "The Great Oxygenation Event" sometimes called "The Great Oxygenation Catastrophe" to see a much more drastic spamming of particles into our atmosphere by cyanobacteria. It caused the extinction of most other life on the planet.

Fun fact, but one of my Engineering professors at college actually challenged Monckton, the guy in the OP, over this debate.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Abraham_(professor)

Why is it funny? Well because I went to the University of St. Thomas for my undergrad, a Christian affiliated university, and not only did the University throw their full support behind my professor, but Monckton even mocked him for being from a Bible Belt institution. Funny how people like to jump on board the "Christianity hates science herp derp" without bothering to look into the actual discussion.

The British guy was a real ass too, even mocking my prof's voice at one point. I invite people to look up Monckton's debate with John Abraham if they're really interested.
